Microwave or oven?

I set my oven to 350 or 375 and cook about 30 minutes, depending on the size of the potato.
Be sure and test you potato by using a long fork to see if it still feels hard or not. If soft, it is ready.

For microwave, I just follow the guide. If I use a big potato, then I use the guide for 2 potatoes instead of one.
Best wishes.

just 350 degres until the potato is easily pierced with a fork, but a regular baking potato takes about 3/4 of an hour, or a little more. Dont wrap it in anything, but you could rub the skin with margarine, or oil if you want a softer skin

About 350 for half an hour. It could be that you had the rack too high and it was too close to the heat source. Try putting a little aluminum foil across the top (don't wrap it because wrapping steams them rather than baking. Just lay foil loosly across the top of the potatoes.)

Microwave is the easiest way - wash the potato and dry it, poke some holes in it with a fork, then cook it in 4-minute increments until it's done - stick it with the fork, you'll be able to tell when it's finished. Shouldn't take more than 10 or 12 minutes, even for a big one.

I coat the potato in vegetable oil sprinkle with seasoning salt, prick with a fork and bake at 350-400 for about one hour - test with a fork to see if it is tender. Enjoy!

425 for 1 1/2 hours -- wrap it in tin foil and poke some holes with a fork
