Does anyone know where I can buy one for cheap? How much does it cost to install? Also - how will I know if I am buying the right one.

I also agree to get it done at your Ford dealership. I have this remote start on my car and it is AWESOME! I will never have a vehicle again without it! I think I paid btn. $300-$400...I'm not sure b/c I had the keypad and tint installed at the same time.
Not only is it a remote start, which reaches distances that amaze most people, it is also an alarm system. And a good one at that. It will scare the freakin' crap out of anyone who sets it off. It can be set to different sensitivities, so it doesn't go off all the time, so don't worry. Mine only goes off when something's wrong.
It's not one of those alarms that are just annoying and you don't think to get up. It goes nuts and is super loud and gets attention. I don't worry about my car and I live in Miami. That's really saying A LOT!
And I hate to call someone an idiot, but the guy up there is asking for it. This remote start requires a key to keep the engine going. It will turn itself off if the key is not inserted within 15 minutes. The car is in park and not going anywhere! And let's say someone wanted to steal your car b/c the engine was on. As soon as you hit the brakes, without the key in the ignition, the engine is cut. So unless you have a key, you aren't getting anywhere.. and no random person is going to get run over. That is so bizarre for that mechanic of 27 years to say!
My alarm was installed by Ford at purchase...covered under warranty as it's not after market. If it's a Ford and done by Ford...shouldn't be a problem whether it's after purchase or not.

Bad idea! Extended idling to warm an engine is VERY hard on the engine. Just turn on the heated seats! Ford also recommend that you do not do that as it can void the warranty if not done properly. Guess they've had some problems with people messing up the computer system.

You can have Ford parts and your nearest Ford dealer install it. It has great options I am looking into getting one myself. Just enter the vehicle information at the website provded, it will do the rest!

Wow... I just had mine done on my 2007 Ford Fusion SEL-V6. I would really have Ford do it to avoid the risk of voiding the warranty. I got mine done for under $300.

they were on sale here. they go by transmission type. automatic or standard.
it's about 3 hours labour to put one in, but it's not that hard if you know a little bit about cars, you can install one of these i did mine last weekend took me most of the afternoon but beat's paying 300 bucks.

Go for an alarm system that has autostart built in.
Should cost you around 300 installed.

very stupid and unsafe bad idea, your new ford does not need warmed up read the manual start and go, dont run it hard till warm, what will you do when it starts and takes off and kills someone who will you blam ? the guy who put it on ? or your husband ? they are not aloud in most states , anything mechanical can and will fail so be smart and be alive, lose the idea, be safe, sorry to burts your bubble
