Jeeze man, if nothing else, I admire your tenacity. The "Mission Accomplished" banner was on the ship before the President arrived. It referred to the ship finishing their deployment. Don't know who you heard say the war would be short. Obviously we see the same guy and hear different things. Odd huh? The Iraqi people (read citizens) DO welcome us, and still do. Quagmire? Well, maybe if we stopped trying to win a war using politically correct methods it wouldn't be.

And I am currently having Pizza...enjoy humble pie bud. ;)

Watch the video, even though you won't like it because it doesn't aid your doom & gloom defeatist attitudes.

May 1st, 2003. the Mission at that time WAS accomplished. Saddam was removed from power.

The invasion WAS a pushover. We walked into Baghdad and helped the Iraqis pull down the dictator.

President Bush never said the War on Terror would be short. He has consistently said it would be long and hard. And yes, Iraq IS part of the GWOT.

The only "quagmire" is the one invented on the CBS/CNN evening propaganda broadcasts. They would also have considered the post WW2 years in Germany and Japan a quagmire by today's standards.

The fact is that as of 9-11-01, we are in a multi-front war that will last probably the rest of our lives, and into the next two or three generations. It is a world war between the west and islam. It will end only when one side wins militarily. Fact is, they want to convert us or kill us, period. That is their only goal, and they are very patient. Do you want to live under sharia law?

War was a pushover...

Peacekeeping while setting up a democratic style government for the first time, in a region with a plethora of nut-job extremist and terrorist ilk, is hard....

The Iraqi people, for the most part, appreciate the troops and the effort they are putting forth....

It's hardly a quagmire. The U.S. has achieved most of it's goals. Iraq has a democratically elected government, 82% of the 3,200 infrastructure projects have been built and Iraq will have all it's police and soldiers trained by the end of this year. It took 9 years after WWII to accomplish the same missions in Germany and Japan.

If Yahoo screened these Qs before they were posted, less than 1/2 would pass the guidelines & be posted. Yours is one.for the trash heap.

Eat some crow yourself. The troops were welcomed. Trouble is, as usual, Bush managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory by insisting it had to be done his way.

When anyone says I TOLD YOU SO, it only means the speaker feels the need to feel superior to the rest of us. Pointing fingers only adds to the problem. Grow up.

I think the people have always supported our soldiers... nobody supports war. Who really supports death and dustruction? However, no matter if a war is unjust or just, or for whatever petty reason a government elects to go to war, our soldiers should always be above the political bickering and recieve our support.

Thanks for that, it helps us all keep our perspective. Regardless of how badly things can be going in our personal lives, we always know it's better than being you.
