Different stokes for different folks. If your co-worker was talking on the phone about something you are interested in (i.e. sports, video games, clubs) you probably would not mind. Some guys are just too emotionally attached to their significant other.
However, the calls several times a day and gum issue is unproductive and unprofessional. You are in your right to bring this to your supervisor.

I suggest that you take the person aside and nonchalantly show in the handbook how personal phone calls wether on a cell or on the company phone is not exceptable during business hours. I know it is there. if that doesn't work ask to be move to a different cubical. if they ask you why and you don't want to get the person in trouble, tell them that you have a flatulent problem and you don't want to bother other people with it.

And here you are just sticking around for the severence, being ticked about being in a rut and lonely.
Pull out your guitar everytime he starts up and give them a serenade. What have you got to lose? Not your job....
Ya, that'd be annoying. Just tell him to stop, or at least to keep it down. You're trying to work (tee hee) and you find it distracting

So I guess you haven't confronted this co-worker about his annoying work habits. This could be addressed with your supervisor, without naming anyone, requesting that employees respect each other's work space. Or, if you can't do this, write a note and leave it on his desk when he isn't there, explaining how annoying he is. You should type it, because he might recognize your handwriting.

Sound like someone in desperate need of a serious beatch-slapping and/or kick in the jewels. Sounds like the kind of loser who will soon be dumped by his GF. Hopefully then he will drop into silent moping and depression. But probably not. Then you'll probably have to hear him talk to his mom on the phone and crying. You have my sympathy.

have you walked up to him and discussed it yet? I'd suggest that first... remember you're at work and even though you want to throw him out the window on the 24th floor... you can't... if you talk to him and it still continues - discuss it with your boss... chances are he doesn't know that he is so loud/obnoxious or maybe since nobody has said anything maybe he doesn't think they mind... I'd say chat with him about it though... it could go a long way...

maybe write an anonymous note to your supervisor asking how much time can be spent on personal calls each day, and name this dude as an example.

I can understand that being annoying. I am surprised he still has a job with the company.

next time he's doing baby-babble, walk around the cubical, grab the base of his phone and supply him with one swift smack to the head with it...
