My husband used to live in Germany as a child and these were his favorite. Not sure if I am spelling it correctly, this is what he calls them.

I am going off of his memory, but I think they are like meatballs or meatloaf.

FRIKADELLEN are not just known in Germany but also in most Scandinavian Countries. The spices differ sometimes from country to country.

These are the Original German Frikadellen
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 lb ground pork
3 small onions, diced and sauteed
1 tbl oil
8 tbls breadcrumbs
1/2 cup milk
2 tsps basil
2 tsps salt
2 tsps pepper
2 tsps flour
5 tbls oil

Instructions
Mix ground meats together in a mixing bowl. Peel and dice the onions, then saute in oil until transparent. Add sauteed onions to meat mixture. Stir together breadcrumbs and milk and add to meat mixture. Add basil, salt and pepper and mix well. Dampen hands and form meat mixture into a palm-sized patty. Fry on both sides in oil until golden brown.

Frigadellen, its a meatball. Take hamburger meat (germans prefer half and half (half pork, half beef)), take a day old roll, and pour water on it, then squeeze it till it is just mush, put it with the meat, finely chopped onions, add an egg (or 2 depending on how much you're making), then salt and pepper, and whatever other spices you want, there is no 1 recipe, everyone here does it differently, then fry it in a pan, you know.. till its not pink anymore. Eat it with ketchup or mayo, or whatever.

I think is Danish:

Frikadeller

Frikadeller is quite a simple, traditional Danish dish and very tasty.

You need:
500 grams lean pork mince
½ cup bread crumbs
1 egg
1 cup milk
1 teaspoons salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
1 small onion - very finely chopped
butter for frying

Method:
Soften onions in microwave for 1 minute.
Mix all ingredients together.

Dip tablespoon in warm butter to shape rissoles.
Fry in hot butter for about 5 minutes each side.

They are called Frigadella's. My mom always made them for us growing up. All they are are hamburger meat with white bread instead of bread crumbs. Leave the bread ends in mixture along with one egg and salt and pepper. Fry in a pan.
One pound of chopped meat
2 slices of white bread
1 egg (Serve with brown gravy on top)
Mix all in bowl then fry in some oil. You can put a little chopped onion in them if desired. I haven't made them in years. So good.
