I think that people shouldn't judge someone just because the lifestyle they were born with. I'm gay, and I've always known I was gay. Nothing ever triggered homosexuality into my life, so I belive God made me this way because he loves me. The bible only mentions homosexuality seven times, and never in the four Gospels, therefore it can't be proven that Jesus spoke for it or against it!

Of course God doesnt hate gay people, and nor do most rational, worth knowing people!!!! I have friends who are gay, one who is scared to come out cos he thinks people will see him differently, and i think thats really sad that it has to be like that, cos although i think anyone that matters in his life would stand by him i cnat pretend he wouldnt encounter the odd biggot or at least that ppl may treat him slightly diff and think he wasnt the same person. Some people just are gay and some are straigh, its not caused by anything. Its just like why do i find the certain guys i find attractive and not others?
The catholic church doesnt hate gay people, but it does need to catch up. im catholic and most catholics think the bit about homosexuality being wrong is an utter joke. Its not that the church doesnt like gay ppl it simply stems from the fact catholics see sex as there to create a life, and obviously sex between two ppl of the same gender cant reuslt in reproduction and that is the major reason the church would frown on it, it links with them hating condom use, sex outside of marriage etc.

Im a pacifist but id really love to slap ppl who say that being gay is an actual sin! I think any love between two ppl, that is really love should be encouraged and allowed to grow. You get biggots against everything, dont even give anything ppl say in the name of god about being gay a second thought. God is love and through loving anyone we are closer to god. He'l be much more offended by anyone discriminating against anyone or even judging anyone and telling them theyre sining, whats the quote judge not lest ye yerself be judged, or something like that. I would just walk away from anyone who ever says anything, theyre sad and unhappy to have to be looking for fault with others!

God does love absoloutely everyone, thats very true. One of the greatest commandments is love they neighbour as thyself, any so called christian being prejudiced has fallen at the first hurdle. (wow sorry to sound like an RE lesson, had to learn lots of bible quotes in my RE lessons, can quote alot but hit and miss what ppl buy into of it all)

Most christians who do not approve of a homosexual lifestyle do not hate(I can't speak for West Baptists) gay people. I realize that most gay people are born with those homosexual tendencies. That doesn't mean though that the Bible doesn't call it an abomination. Every single human is born with sinful tendencies. Some might ask, "If God didn't want me to drink why did he make me prone to alcoholism?" Being tempted to do something is not the same as actually doing it. Now... everyone sins, so why are homosexuals bugged so much? That has more to do with the fact that there are things like gay pride parades and coming out day. The Bible is very clear on the point about repenting and renouncing sin and sexual immorality, which is hard to accomplish when people are looking for acceptance in what they do. I have a friend who is gay and he asked me the same kind of stuff. He wanted to know how I felt about it and I said, "Look, if you have never had sex with a man(which he hadn't) I said why would you associate yourself with that title? People will automatically think you have done something that you haven't. It will ruin any Christian influence you have right now. People won't be able to look at you the same."
I think there is nothing wrong with having homosexual tendencies. Those are unable to be helped. My cousin was born with them. But, you do not have to act on them. The sin is in the act of doing or fantasizing about them. I hope you understand what I am trying to say here. God does love you, but that doesn't mean that sin hasn't deformed us from birth. We are born into this world wicked. We may not have a choice of how we are born, but we have a choice on how to live. I guarantee that God does not love that lifestyle. If Jesus is God, then you can be sure He feels the same way as the Old testament says(SEVEN TIMES? How many times does he need to say it?), regardless if it is in the Gospel or not. He was the one who wrote it. Oh and by the way, I believe that God does love his children although I don't think there is a specific verse like the one you were quoting. If one is to quote scripture, there needs to be some clue as to where it is found, or it at least needs to be a direct quote. I hope this helps you understand the main reason for people saying what they do. This isn't meant to push you one way or the other, but it is Biblical. It's your choice.

I love all of these answers that assume the point of view of God, as if any of us actually know about God's plan and view towards homosexuality! The Bible was written by men, not by God. These men's own prejuidices and biasts are reflected in their writings. Do you think modern people were the only ones to mistreat/fear/judge homosexuals? The quintessential error in religion today is that people assume to know God's will and judge those that deviate from their denominational guidelines. Your life is to be judged by you and whatever God you please, but by no other. So if you feel good about your lifestyle, don't worry about what others say. Also, Jesus didn't discriminate against anyone, even those who crusified him, so why would he make an exception for the gay community?

Just remember that the average person rejects what they don't understand. Also most Christians believe that God thinks homosexuality is wrong.
There is very little chance that this will change with most older folks unless someone they love comes out of the closet, but the younger generation is much more open minded and eventually the interpretation of the bible will match the feeling of the people. People are not the only things that evolve till then just keep comfort in your heart by knowing that there is nothing wrong with you. IGNORE THE IGNORANT COMMENTS YOU WILL GET FROM THE RELIGIOUS FOLKS WHO KNOW NOT WHAT IT'S LIKE.

I have never heard any Christians "insist on hating Gay People". You're making that part up.

What Christians do say is that a gay lifestyle is wrong. That doesn't mean they hate you anymore than saying that Christians think alcoholism, or even excessive eating is wrong. Do Christians hate fat peope because they say that gluttony is one of the seven deadly sins?

The bible doesn't use the word "homosexual" because that word was coined in the 18th century. It does make reference to it in both the Old and New Testament and always referred to as something to be avoided. Just because it comes natural to you doesn't make it all right either. Lots of sins come naturally to people. If you are gay then you are call to live a life that is pure, holy, and chaste.

People are not perfect and just b/c someone is a Christian or Jewish that doesn't make them perfect. We all have problems and faults.

I am a Christian and I don't hate gay people, but I don't agree with gay people. God could have placed this struggle before you at a young age. You should ask God for answers about your sexuality. I believe He loved you, but that doesn't mean He loves everything you do. That is the beauty of humanity. We are a work in progress.

And if you have Christians who are bashing you, just kindly remind them that God encourages us to love the sinner and hate the sin. I don't hate anyone for this reason, b/c God tells me via Bible to love you and everything I do should be for the sake of love, but to hate evilness and sin.

Best thing you can do is talk to the Man above, He's got all the answers you need. Just remember, He gives the answer to you only when you ask and when He thinks you are ready for it.

God loves you and I hope and pray that you come to see the truth whatever God has planned for you.

1. Your "quote" is incorrect; you are drawing a (not incorrect) conclusion from Scripture, the statement just isn't there word for word.

2. People who choose to hate others (gay, black, female, male, whatever) are not walking in line with the truth of the Gospel of Christ. If they say they are, they are lying. Wolf trying to put on sheep's clothing. Arf Arf Baa(rk) Baa(rk)

3. Jesus is the Jewish Messiah. God's law, detailing what is sin and what is righteousness, was recorded in the Old Testament. Nothing in the moral law has been changed by Jesus Christ. If it was Sin in Moses' time, it is sin now. Jesus didn't specifically mention rape, either, but that doesn't make it a "righteous act". This arguement (from silence) is invalid.

4. Everybody struggles against sin, and struggling with wrong sexual desires is all too common. Having desires for the same sex doesn't make you "special", it just means you have a particular programming towards that sin. You need to have help in an area that, say, a natural liar doesn't struggle with. We don't condone adultery because the man in question "can't help how he feels", neither do we condone promiscuity because a woman "can't control her sexual desires".

Overcoming any sin requires special power from God. The rules are the same for every human being. You, me, Mother Theresa, Princess Di, Col. Mustard, the Pope, everybody.

Despite the Bible's fair share of problems, this is one of the parts that is actually from God. God love all of his Creations. It's the actions he hates.

If your brother takes your laptop and accidently messes it up, or has in accident in you car or what not, you are furious, right?
Are your furious because of your brother himself existing? No, God No! It's because you love him so much and he did something so diametrically opposite of your expectations that you'd be angry. You are distressed over the action, not the doer.

God hates evil, destructive, nihilistic actions like Sodomy. People misunderstand this major point and claim that because God says that BEING gay is wrong, all gays are immediately to be seen as the scum of the earth. No. We are all created equal, and it's our decisions and our actions that determine our final destination.

I don't know many traditions about the beloved Prophet, Jesus, especially because of the amount of "work" that has been done on the Bible, discrediting its believability absolutely.

However, if we look into the story of Lot's people, we see that the people were not punished for being gay PER SE, but for stubbornly claiming that it was fine for them to be so. Do your research, man. You'll see what I mean.

Your claim that you were "born gay" and that you always knew you were gay makes no sense: you are a sane, natural human being who was created to make the world a better place. You cannot "be" gay by force: It is absolutely a decision, and a very wrong one at that. I hope you'll think through my advice and may our lord guide you to the truth.

God is One.
Peace to who follow Guidance.

God did speak against homosexuality in the Old Testament and even thought it wasn't written to us I believe we can still get something from it. God specifically states that He ment relationships to be between a man and woman and nothing else. I don't hate homosexuals. I'm a faithful Christian and I actually have a few gay friends. But i don't agree with their lifestyle. God does not make people gay. Homosexual thoughts and actions are not from God because they go against what He states in the Bible. Nevertheless, God loves you the way you are.

No, I don't hate gay people and I do believe that God allows ALL things, even our lifestyles, even our choices and the things we've been given to live out in this life.

I'm a Christian and I love you, so does God, because God is LOVE! Don't worry about the haters. Pray for them, like they are the person that you love the most.

God loves all His children. But He's also holy, just, righteous, and sovereign. He doesn't like sin.
First, as Bible believing Christians, we believe Jesus Christ is God in the flesh - and believing so, Jesus' strongest stand on the issue of homosexuality had to be when Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed. The Bible says God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah - and Jesus is part of the triune God. The Bible tells us Jesus was there from the beginning of creation (Genesis) - and He was responsible for creation as well. How much more clearly can Jesus have been in his 'speaking out against' homosexuality, than in the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah?

While it is true that the New Testament does not document any statements of Jesus specifically condemning or condoning homosexuality - He didn't need to. It was very clear. However, John 21:25 states that "…there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one…even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written." Further, it should be considered that there is no record of Jesus’ statements on other sexual practices like rape, incest, bestiality, etc. Yet it is unlikely that Jesus sanctioned these behaviors.

In addition, Jesus reinforced Old Testament law on sexual behavior in Matthew 5:27-30 and Mark 7:21-23. Old Testament law condemned the practice of homosexuality:

"Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination." – Leviticus 18:22

"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them hath committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them." – Leviticus 20:13

Clearly, Scripture does not equate homosexual and heterosexual relationships. In fact, perhaps the best indicator of Jesus’ stance on homosexuality is found in Matthew 19:4-6, where He restates the Genesis 2:21-25 account of God’s ordination of the marital union. This reference is consistent with all of Scripture, which esteems marriage, the union of one man and one woman in covenant union, above every other relationship, and maintains that all sexual activity must take place within its confines. Any other sex outside that of the grounds of biblical, heterosexual marriage is considered fornication, condemned by God.

Romans 1:26-27 informs us that sexual immorality and self-worship brings great consequence to those involved: "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of a woman, burned in their lust toward one another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet." These New Testament passages references the perversion of homosexuality – and affirms that God designed the sexual relationship for biblical, heterosexual marriage.
