I don't use fresh garlic too often but I'd like to keep a small quantity on hand but I don't have a clue as to how to keep it. In the refrigerator in an airtight container? I have a FoodSaver; should I use that? Thanks for any help!

I use quite a bit of garlic, and I find that it stores best in a dry place around room temperature. Keep it out of the sunlight, because it dries more rapidly and is prone to sprouting if left in the sun. Sprouted garlic becomes slightly bitter. I also don't put it in a plastic bag, airtight container, or in the refrigerator--that can cause condensation, which causes mold to grow on the skin.

Foodsaver should work--it will keep the garlic fresh and the garlic smell out of the fridge.

Like any of the onion family keep it in a cool, dark place. Storing it in the fridge can cause it to dry out too fast. Depending on the age of the garlic pod it will keep up to two months.

Garlic is best stored in a cool, dry place.
Place them in an airtight container or plastic baggie, then store them in a cabinet, ensuring a cool dark environment.

Keep it in the fridge in an airtight container. Garlic will keep for a long time.

Don't use your food saver...garlic needs air circulation or it will start to break down and get mushy.

Store garlic, just like you store potatoes, onions, shallots, etc.

Cool, dark place. Basement, cellar, etc.

If you want long term storage...I concur with the whole peeled in a jar sealed with olive oil method.

I store mine in an open bin in my office. It's away from the kitchen by a few steps, and it's the coldest room in the house. It usually keeps for 3-4 weeks.

if you have some spare time peel it and store it in a glass container with some olive oil...it'll be ready to use anytime and it will also make your food even tastier!
