The commercial scanners that i have found cost between $400.00 and $1,500. Anyone have a suggestion?

I assume you don't scan tons of documents a day.

I would look at scanners at http://www.pricewatch.com or http://www.tigerdirect.com.

You should be able to find some really good stand alone scanners for a reasonable price, especially if you are only doing documents and not photos. If you are doing photos you may have to spend a few more bucks if you want the bells and whistles also. Software may be included in the bundle. e.g. some Epson scanners come with Photo Elements.

If your space is limited, you may want to consider an "all in one" type scanner, fax, printer. My brother has an HP in his small business and he loves it.

Lots of good choices out there if you are not going to give it extreme use. You should be able to get away with the "non-commercial" versions of this equipment.

Hope this helps.
