Types or foods really don't affect your metabolism. What can affect it is if you eat 5 to 6 smaller meals throughout the day your body will keep its metabolim levels up. Also, if you really want to lose weight I strongly recommend you exercise. Just know that walking an extra few miles a day can really add up. Keep eating well and good luck.

Exercise helps rev up yor metabolism.
You can diet forever, but without exercise you really won't reach your fitness goals. Sometimes we diet too severely and our bodies go into a kind of starvation mode, using calories slower than it normally does. It keeps this up even when food is more plentiful, causing us to stop losing or even regain when we eat a more normal amount. Exercise helps to counteract this effect. Plus, you build muscle, which uses more calories just by being there.
For weight loss, you should exercise at least five times a week for thirty minutes to an hour. It doesn't have to be all in one session either. Good luck.

the problem is that your metabolism is a genetically decided rate. foods only have a mild effect. have you considered consulting your doctor? (s)he will be able to suggest a diet/excercise regimine that will work for you. (they may want to run a few blood tests to check thyroid hormone levels (the controlling factor in metabolic rate) ) failing that, a diet that minimizes fat and sugar intake is your friend. try eating whole wheat bread instead of white, olive oil instead of vegetable or canola oil, and other little things like that. you may also want to review your physical activity regimine. try working out 2 hours more a week, spread out over 2 days at the gym (so instead of doing 3 days at 2 hours a day, do 2 days at 3 hours and one at 2) just a few suggestions.

There is no such thing as a fast or slow metabolism when it comes to dieting. Thats a myth. Your metabolism only slows with age, not with food.
