The pancreas is an organ in the digestive and endocrine system that serves two major functions: exocrine (producing pancreatic juice containing digestive enzymes) and endocrine (producing several important hormones, including insulin
the pancreas is a 15-25 cm (6-10 inch) elongated organ in the abdomen located retroperitoneal. It is located posterior to the stomach and in close association with the duodenum.
It is often described as having three regions: a head, body and tail.
The body of the pancreas lies at the level of L2 on the spine.
The pancreatic head abuts the second part of the duodenum.
The tail of the pancreas extends towards the spleen.
The pancreatic duct runs the length of the pancreas and empties into the second part of the duodenum at the ampulla of Vater. The common bile duct commonly joins the pancreatic duct at or near this point.

The pancreas is a small organ located near the lower part of the stomach and the beginning of the small intestine. This organ has two main functions. It functions as an exocrine organ by producing digestive enzymes, and as an endocrine organ by producing hormones, with insulin being the most important hormone produced by the pancreas.
The pancreas secretes its digestive enzymes, through a system of ducts into the digestive tract, while it secretes its variety of hormones directly into the bloodstream.
Abnormal pancreatic function can lead to pancreatitis or diabetes mellitus.

to keep it simple, your pancreas is a 'lopsided- l' shaped organ found under and behind your stomach. it's mostly in the upper part of your abdomen, so if you put your hand on your stomach, your pancreas would be right in the middle of that area. the pancreas is a very important part of the body because it releases hormones that help control how much 'sugar' (aka glucose) you use. for example, it makes insulin. insulin, as you know, is important because it breaks down sugar and makes sugar more useful for the body to use (this is known as sugar metabolism). when your pancreas is not working right, you may have problems with diabetes.
the pancreas also plays a role in digestion, by releasing enzymes that help break down food so the body can use it.
