I hear people claim evolution goes against many scientific laws. Can anyone name which ones?

It does not go against the first law because matter can not be created nor destroyed but it can be rearranged. Does not go against the seconc because it only includes a closed system and all organisms are an open system.

A mutation could be a loss or gain of genetic information.

Evolution does not violate any scientific laws. Creationists who do not understand science sometimes claim that it does, but they only say that because they misinterpret the scientific law for their own purposes.

You've heard people claim it violates the second law of thermodynamics, since that is one of standards used in trying to shoot down evolution. The people who claim this however, do not understand this law at all. This law states that the total entropy (chaos) of any isolated thermodynamic system will increase over time. What people fail to realize is that this law only applies to closed systems. The Earth is not a closed system, it receives energy from the sun. A lot of it.

Yet again I see the creationist red herring that it's only a theory. Evolutionary mechanisms are theoretical-that biological evolution occurs is a cast iron fact. It isn't a matter of any conjecture and it's for creationists to examine the evidence objectively instead of mindlessly churning out falsehoods, and come to terms with the fact of evolution and the implications it has for their beliefs.

Those who make such claims simply reveal their ignorance of basic science. Trying to apply laws of physics governing random movement of inanimate particles in closed systems to complex intracellular biochemical processes is absurd. But, since these folks understand neither the physical laws they are invoking, nor the mechanisms of cell reproduction, growth, and evolution, they just make themselves look silly by publicly broadcsasting their ignorance.

The laws of themodynamics is one example frequently sited.
Nothing can be made or destroyed.
Laws of entropy...everything moves from order to disorder.
Those are just 2 off the top of my head.
The big bang believed by many evolution believers cannot explain the order found in the universe in it's delicate and intricate design.
Laws of entropy can't explain how microorganisms came from non living material, nor can it explain where the microorganisms attained the information on how to construct increasingly complex information from the original "program" it lived with and reproduced. Considering mutation is always a loss of information and never a gain, it does not tell us where the increased information needed to create increasingly complex organisms came from. That is the base of many creation believers line of thinking.

Interesting that they claim that it goes against the First Law because nothing can be created or destroyed - But then they turn right around and say God CREATED it....I just thought they said nothing can be created.....

I guess you may be talking about the attack by creationists about the origin of life.... The reaction from which life evolved.... and that only something unbounded by scientific laws could give life! They want scientists to stop searching and become preists and submit to their true "ignorance"!

creationism also does not go against the laws of science. they are all theories and opionions. you can construe the laws of physics and math all you want, but they do not disprove the existence of god. if anything the perfect balance that exists in nature by the representation of these laws is evidence for intelligent design. you can quote my scripture against me, but i can also quote your scripture against you. science is about the dullest weapon you can use against god. use your intellect, philosophy, take it to the next level. you think we haven't heard this before? none of us are strangers to science. the debate for the existence of god has to go above and beyond.
