...after hearing a primary school in brum where a boy was told that for PE he could wear a football shirt of any kind but NOT an England shirt as it may offend others!
Take it or leave it. I am tired of this nation (UK) worrying wheather we are offending some individual or their culture.
I am not against immigration, nor do i hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to the UK.
However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to the Uk, and apparently some born here, need to understand. As Britons we have our own culture, society, language and our own lifestyle. Our culture has been developed over cenruries of war & struggle.
You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.
IMMIGRANTS. NOT BRITONS MUST ADAPT.
Stop moaning and dont forget we have something in England called "The right to leave"

I completely agree, they knew that they were immigrating to a western country. They need to stop feeling so supreme. Learn the language, wear our clothes, live by our rules or go home!!!

I think something very similar was posted a couple of weeks ago. I pointed out then that Birmingham City Council does NOT issue driving licences to anyone, wearing veils or not. I see that another poster also made this point, and got a load of "bad answer" ratings for his trouble. So you anti-immigrant types on here just believe whatever you want to. As someone else said, the right to leave applies to you too - but on the other hand, most veil-wearers here were born here, they've as much right to be here as any of us.

What's the point of having a drivers license when you can only be identified by the clothes/rags you are wearing? This is getting out of control. Any man or woman can pretend to disguise themselves under a veil, for example, here in Canada, a robber wore a burqa and robbed a diamond store. He could not be catched because police aren't allowed to detain women in veils and ask them to remove it....
England has such a rich culture and history, which was partly attributed to its rich christian heritage. and to let that all go so fast in the 21st century....
So I guess the state cares more about hurting the feelings of some ignorant muslims than the safety of the majority of the people.
If whoever is offended by the flag of the country they have inhabited, then you know it is their time to leave. UK tolerates intolerance far too much, political correctness is paralysing the country! Literally everything offends muslims, ie., ballets, people going to the beach, flags, kate moss, other religions practicing freely, homosexuals, women having jobs, seriously, if you acommodate everything to facilitate their dislike,the flag of england would be green with a sword through the union jack, all restaurants would only sell Halal food and all women would be covered head to toe. Think about it.
and Yes, the only way is to adapt/integrate/assimilate or get the eff out!

They are the ones that chose to go there, so why should everyone else assimilate to suit them? Shouldn't it be the other way around?
Thats horrible about the primary school boy being told that he could not wear an England shirt. That shirt is apart of his culture, no matter how small a part of it, he should wear it and express his culture freely.

I think this story is a lie too. DVLA issues driving licences in this country, not city or borough councils.
As I mentioned before, St George never visited England...I'm not surprised with the amount of bigoted comments on here if he was alive today.

I am getting sick & tired of this nonsense that we see & read about every single day.
It is complete bollox, all this shite about Muslims & veils and BA staff not being able to wear a crucifix on duty.

Driver licences are for your legal identification with your photograph. If you could not see the face then what is the meaning to present it as a photo ID. The officials should also think before allowing someone to do so.
