I have a Nice 'n' Easy in black and a Manic Panic in purple I've had for years. Is it safe/wise to use them, or should I trash them?

I have decided I need to cover up my grey, and money is kind of tight, so if I can use these old products I haven't tossed yet, I'd like to know before I spend money on buying new products.

I have long, black dreadlocks, so the dye will simply darken where the grey is, and leave the rest as is.

I have a sensitive scalp, which breaks out from chemical relaxers.

The colour itself is probably still fine if it has never been opened. The peroxide or developer is probably broken down though. I would use fresh developer. Before you do the whole head with it, I would test it on a small area and see if it works ok.

the problem here is that grey hair is the HARDEST thing to dye. color no matter if you've used that brand or not before - the actual color you get Over the Grey spots will verry... as far as the colors that you still have & want to use, if they haven't been opened or even the manic panic if it is open & the cap has been screwd on tight, you will be all set to use. they don't really expire that often. good luck.

NO NO NO They have oxidized by now and you wil get a bad result. Some times when dark color oxidizes it will actually lighten your hair. Buy new if you can. They now have color wands at beauty supply stores you can just color the grey hair instead of the whole thing. Much cheaper!

I'm not sure if it's quiet a good idea to use it, I think you should just buy a new box. I'm not sure the color will be the same and if you have a sensitive scalp its probably not the best idea.

for my best advice don't use it the old hair dyes maybe its expired already check the label of the hair dyes if they put expiration date if not call the manufacture who made that. you said u have sensitive scalp, with breaks out go to the 99 store check the information about it. go to the hair specialist for consultant ok.

The chemicals lose their effectiveness over time and may change composition. I would throw them out.

trash them.

My mantra when dealing with food in the fridge and personal care products: "When in doubt, toss it out"

this mantra also works well when trying to spring clean.
