I've heard all that before and completely agree--however I doubt it will do any good as bigotry is an idol people prize more than God

pretty poor hermaneutics and lousy logic. It is using various verses and some minor fallacies to prooftext. It is picking out things to prove a point already assumed (as opposed to reading for the true meaning).

The contextual angle is interesting though. However, they assume certain things about hebrew texts (old testament in particular) and greek texts that are simply not true.

The main example is that the law in leviticus was not given so as to prevent israelite males from dominating, but rather it was given as a determination of the kinds of things that show holiness. The word holy means to be set apart. The israelites were held to a higher standard. God did not consider it a "good".

Now before anyone goes off, this is the proper interpretation of that book based on hermaneutical principles (principles of ancient text interpretation) and does not necessarily reflect my beliefs.

Thanks

I think it is prejudiced in its logic. If you look at the Scripture from its historical and cultural vantage point, they say exactly what they seem to say; i.e., homosexuality is a sin. But then, so is adultery and any other sex outside of marriage. The Biblical concept of sin is not popular, but it is TRUE.

I think there is some incorrect stuff there. however Ido not feel inclined to go further into that site... as to homosexuals and the God stuff... ALL who come to God in The Way He proscribes will receive His free gift of Salvation and will be with all others in The Body of The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head.

And like all others who come to God they must be repentant of their sins... the acts of the homosexual lust, like those of the hetrosexual lust, are to be left behind when one comes to God...

More proof that religion inspires one group to shun another group. Sadly, it makes the religious feel closer to god while they curse at everyone else.

I took three years of koine Greek in college and I can assure you that this prof. is wrong in her translations and conclusions. Most Greek scholars of the liberal and conservative bent would disagree with her as well. what she is attempting is self justification.

What a joke!
God didn't mean it when he said a man should not lie with another man? Nor did he mean it when he destroyed sodom (sodomy) for their sins?
God loves the homosexual. He loves us all. But to say it's OK is just not biblical. Sex is to be enjoyed with your spouse.
According to the bible.

Its ok. But I think its easier to show that God doesn't exist ... and then we won't have to do so much research and work to show that acting normally according to one's human nature is not a crime!

Everyone of us have the right to believe what we want.

That's a church trying to get God to bend to their way of thinking, and not the other way around. We all see it too much nowadays. The emergent church is sending out the wrong message.
