The most expensive are those custom made by highly skilled artisan/craftsmen gunsmiths.
If you have a "Cabela's" near where you live, it's worth a trip into the "reserve guns" section just to appreciate the craftsmanship on some of these pieces.

Other than historical weapons, I have heard of 1911 with snake skin grip and other features costing over 3000. There are also 24 carat gold plated desert eagles. I have also seen sniper rifles that cost anywhere from 15-30 thousand dollars. Most weapons have no need to be that expensive.
