You don't pluck a live chicken, dear, you have to kill it first... :-D
The best and fastest way to slaughter a chicken is to chop the head off with a good sized very sharp knife.
Once you've killed it, wait a few minutes until it stops moving (it could even run around if you let it!). After this drain the blood off, and put in a big pot of boiling water a few minutes to soften the feathers (this smells awful)...then you start to pluck it...
Pull out all the feathers, then singe the skin (a gas stove is best for this) to remove the tiny ones you can't remove by hand. (the singeing smells awful too, but it works)
After that rinse the carcass, and then dry with paper towels rubbing to remove any little imperfections left..

Then gut the animal (from the rear end) removing all the insides. Keep the liver and heart if you like those.

Now you can prepare your chicken for roasting...

I usually put a whole lemon inside with a bouillion cube. This will slowly melt, use the juices in the pan to baste your chicken...they will have a lemony taste, and give it an excellent flavour!

You don't actually pluck a "live" chicken.

You kill it first, by cutting it's throat at the neck and draining it's blood. After that most people boil the chicken for a few minutes to get the feathers soft and loosened up so that the fathers come off easier during the plucking process.

First you have to cut off it's head then let it drain the blood otherwise it will have a fowl taste. But before you kill it put a large pot of water to boil. Once this is done and the chicken is dead then submerge the chicken in the boiling water and start plucking the feathers, have a cup of cold water for your hand or your hand will have blister by the end of the plucking. Afterwards open up it's belly and take out everything.

Boil a big pot of water, dunk the chicken in the water, then pluck (pull) the feathers out. I must warn you, this has a horrible smell. When you're finished you might not want to eat the chicken. :-)
Oh, yes, I forgot to mention, you must kill the chicken first.

You don't pluck it live. You chop it's head off, watch it run around a bit, then you soak it in a tub of HOT water. Then you pluck.

You must kill the bird first! Otherwise it's really really difficult to get it to stay still while you pull out each feather one by one ...

Please kill the poor bird first. How would you like your feathers plucked out one by one when you are alive???
