Yes, Personal story I am a Deputy Sheriff first of all. About a year ago a man just stepped out into traffic nearly causing me to hit him. Naturally being the productive Deputy that I am I stopped to write the gentleman a citation for Jaywalking. He refused to sign the citation so I had no other choice but to arrest him.

Oh yea additional charges followed when he resisted arrest.

I was ticketed for jaywalking in Las Vegas once. The cop told us to walk to the intersection, so we walked halfway there and then crossed. He didn't like that and gave me, my boss, and a coworker each a $90 ticket. Luckily, because I followed my boss, the company paid for it.

I don't think it is an arrestable offense (kinda like driving without a seatbelt)

I saw a guy get ticketed for jaywalking, since he stepped out into the road as an ambulance went past.

I have never personally seen, or heard of anyone being arrested for jaywalking, because cops do a lot of it themselves.

you cannot get arrested for jaywalking. it's not a felon. you get a ticket. with a fine and a court date.

if you got arrested after jaywalking, it was probably because you were on probation or you had a warrant. as it turns out, if you are on probation, if you spit your gum on the street you can go to jail for a violation of probation. sucks huh?

Yes I have and at that time in Columbus Ohio it was punishable by a $15 fine. I tried to tell the officer I needed to use the bathroom which was true and when I insisted he arrested me.

No but I did one time get two tickets at the same time for it. I was late for class and came to a red cross light, there weren't any cars coming so I ran across just as the light turned green and the other one I needed turned red, so I ran across that one too. Normally the intersection was mildly busy but there was really nobody coming. As soon as I made it across the second crosswalk I got stopped by two cops on bikes, they said: ''hey hey! didn't you see us?'' I said ''I didn't know I should be looking out for cops'' one of the cops said ''I'm gonna have to give you a couple of tickets'' I said ''what?! I'm late for class'' he said ''its still an infraction of the law'' so I said laughing ''what happens next time, you gonna take my shoes?'' he looked up at me like a school yard bully who'd just been beaten and said ''I don't know what you're talking about'' so I said ''I said, what happens next time, you gonna take my shoes?'' he finished writing me the tickets and left. Bastard. 84 bucks from a student. He was probably pissed they didn't issue him a car.

Jay walking is not an arrestable offense. Disorderly conduct or resisting an officer is - just ask Tupac. Oh wait . . . .
