My hair is so thick and curly, whenever I wash it my hair is still curly, when I hot comb or press it, it gets thicker in like 5 hours. How can I keep my hair smooth and straight? Please don't be rude!

I would think the best bet is a good quality ceramic straightener, available at a variety of stores. Try London Drugs or something like that to find one that best suits your type of hair. Personally, I use a Conair, double wide ceramic straightener. It heats up in a minute but has a dial on the side that will allow me to decide how hot I want my iron to be...It goes from 1-25. I use 25 because my hair is thick (wavy and frizzy!) and hard to straighten.

If you want to go for the whole thing, wash your hair, blow dry it using a round, ceramic brush. Make sure your hair is totally dry and then straighten your hair with the ceramic straightener. Patience is key! The more seperate strands of hair you do the better result you have. I have super thick hair so straightening in small strands takes forever, but my hair remains sleek and straight almost all day :D

Here's a tip for your poor fried hair :D Clamp a tissue between the heated plates. If the tissue turns yellow, it is DEFINITLY toooo hot for your hair!

Good luck!

I have this problem as well. My hair is very difficult and I have resigned care to a professional!! I would suggest that you go to a hairstylist that specializes in African-American Hair. An African- American salon would be a good start. They can deal with problem hair of any kind. They can flatiron or use a hot comb and it will last you a couple of days!! Also you look into the Japanese Straightening Process. It is a process that can take most types of course/ curly hair and make it bone straight forever.

Goodluck!

I would check with a professional stylist, so they can let you know what is best for you hair type. It will probably just cost you your time, but that is better than doing something that will damage your hair.
