I dyed my naturally light blonde hair dark red. How do I go back blonde w/o killing it with bleach. Should I try going light red, then strawberry, then blonde (might take a while I know). I have done this before and bleached it...baaaad mistake. My hair was a mess for months. Any suggestions?

****you cannot color your hair lighter-the only way to lift darker hair color out is to use bleach**** if you try to color it lighter the only thing that will happen is that the new growth (if you have any) will lighten-the red won't budge. if you don't want it killed go see a professional-they know how to do it and keep some of the hairs integrity...you'll really hurt it if you try to do it yourself, red is the hardest to get rid of it will probably have to be bleached once or twice (depending) and then toned

You picked the most difficult color to get out (after black). If you don't want to use bleach, which def. damages the hair, start out slowly by dying it light blonde. It will come out almost like brown. Keep lightening it with lighter colors until you get the color you had. It'll take some time though b/c you don't want to use bleach (that's not really recommended anyhow). Good luck!

My suggestion is to go to a beauty supply store first. There are products for color removal and the professionals there can help you. Other than that, you could go to a salon and let them do it for you but it will probably be expensive. Good luck to you! I know what it's like to be miserable with your hair.

Go to walmart and get this stuff (forgot what it is called) Hair color remover. I believe that is the name. It isn't bleach it is peroxide. I used it to get the black dye out of my hair. I did it and it took quite a bit out ( beeen dying it black for 2 years) I would say go with that. it isnt harsh on your hair and it works. It will turn your hair a redish color but then after you strip the color go with a blond that is your natural hair color. THen you should be good.

if you have blonde hair it will naturally get bleached by the sun in the summer. There had been this guy in my class who had golden blonde hair that has been a medium brown near the bottom part. When he came back to college after summer vacation, it was nearly platinum blonde!
