i like this girl but i hear mad things about her what do i do?

Just remember that you can't always go by what other people say. Just put 2 and 2 together...does she do things that kinda go along with what these people are saying? Does she seem "shady"? Make you're OWN judgement....Too many girls out there are given a bad name because people are jealous of her, OR some guys want her and she won't give them the time of day! If you really like her, take the time to get to know her yourself.
