If one of the memory chips in your computer went bad, would you talk to it to try to make it better? Not every psychological problem can be solved with therapy. There are many mental disorders that are the result of bad neural wiring, or a hormonal imbalance; the "root" of the problem is physical or biochemical, not some traumatic event in a person's life. (Though an event could exacerbate the problem.) In such cases, anti-depressants or other cognitive drugs could help to correct the issue by, for instance, restoring the proper balance of hormones or whatever other neurotransmitter that's out of whack. Indeed many people who have taken anti-depressants have reported that the drugs help them feel like their natural self again. It is important to get to the root of a problem, and a psychologist can determine whether some form of therapy, drugs, or both is appropriate in a given situation. To discount the use of medication is to remove from the table a valuable and effective tool in combating depression and other mental disorders.

You have no permanent effects. Maybe focusing on getting your body back to normal should be a goal for you since you were so slim and healthy before. Exercising releases endorphins so it may help with your depression.
Now that your off of everything maybe this new doctor should try you on something new. Only the doctor should go slow and use minimal doses.

I don't understand why your doctor would put you on an antidepressant if you were only suffering from insomnia. Insomnia can be treated with a sedative! Why would he feel the need to put you on sucha high dose of zoloft and welbutrin both used to treat anxiety and depression. I suffer from both anxiet and depression and i'm only taking 100 mg of zoloft! 200mg of zoloft is the highest dose allowed and he prescribed you this for insomnia? Plus wellbutrin?? This is insane! Are you sure you were only suffering from insomnia and that the insomnia wasn't a symptom of a serious mental disorder? If you ask me.. yes I think you were definitely over drugged. I would go get another opinion and then see if you can sue for malpractice. I know zoloft can make you gain weight and since you were taking such a high dose of it that doesn't suprise me. Anxiety and depression both work hand in hand and agoraphobia is usually caused by panic attacks occuring outside of your home enviornment. Have you ever experienced panic attacks? and yes getting off all of your meds at one time can make you really sick. You're supposed to get off of them gradually to avoid withdrawl symptoms. Is there anything going on in your life that's bother you that could be causing the depepression?
Also, i know from experience that zoloft can make you extremely restless so i still don't understand why this doc would prescribe you a drug that would worsen your insomnia symptoms.

Permanent damage for over medicating on anything is possible. It depends on the medication, dosage and duration of time taken. Talk with your doctor.

Eventually, any mainstream medication can make you permanently 'dead'. You can reverse the damage from mainstream medicine, but it's harder to reverse the damage from malnutrition. You were, and still are, suffering from nutrient deficiencies. Now that you have tried it the unnatural way, try it the natural way.
Vitamin B6 Pyridoxine helps alleviate stress, increases energy, improves long-term memory, and supports the manufacturing of neurotransmitters. Large doses of pyridoxine and folic acid help to reduce homo-cysteine levels in the body. Homo-cysteine is linked to cognitive impairment. Pyridoxine is needed in order for the human body to produce serotonin. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that controls appetite, sleep patterns, and mood.
Drugs can make you dead!
Try these instead!
Choose your weapons, carefully, but if you are interested in improved mental performance, educate yourself about the benefits of brain-boosting substances so that you can make an informed decision (you don't want to end up like Keith Richards). The only way you can tell what supplements to take for your specific physical/emotional imbalances is to use the results of hair analysis or kinesiological muscle testing.

Minerals:
Electrolytes are ionized salts (minerals) found in body fluids and the blood stream. Electrolytes are the sparks, which fire and fuel the neurotransmitters that enable us to think and process information. Minerals create a healthy environment in which the body, using vitamins, proteins, carbohydrates and fats, can grow, function and heal itself.
Take a good Multi-Vitamin and Mineral supplement, plus Omega 3 oils. All proven to enhance mental acuity and improve your feeling of well-being.
The best sources of minerals:
This is why any successful health-building program will include fresh, raw, organically grown fruit and vegetable juices. These foods contain the colloidal and crystalline form of minerals that have been through the microorganism and photosynthesis charging process. Also, Sea vegetables (sea weed) such as dulse, kelp, arame, hijiki, kombu, nori, alaria, etc. are a superior source of abundant minerals. All of the topsoil that was eroded from the land, ended up in the oceans. If you eat plants that grow in the ocean, then you can obtain these plant-derived minerals in a biologically utilizable form.
Sprouted seeds, especially alfalfa seeds, provide an abundance of minerals. The alfalfa plant has deep roots that reach up to 90 feet into the ground and pull in many rare trace elements. Raw spinach has an exceptional amount of minerals. All root vegetables have many minerals. Black-strap molasses can be used to add plant-based minerals that were removed during the refining of sugar cane or sugar beets. Another source of plant derived minerals is available from an area known as Emery County, Utah. Supposedly, a glacier or other cause of earth movement buried a large quantity of vegetative matter, which may have been a dense growth, or a washed-in bog of numerous plants, which is believed to have accumulated over a 600 year period. This material now exists as humic shale. On average, the humic shale is a 30 feet thick layer of prehistoric plant derivatives that was or still is under great pressure from the earth. All of the moisture has been compressed out of the humus. By submerging in pure, cold water, more than 70 plant minerals are leached from this humic shale. The mineral water is taken as a mineral supplement.
