The interesting part about this most recent outbreak is that the emphasis has been on just spinach. *Any* food can become contaminated with pathogenic bacteria, especially if it is grown near a cattle farm, as the spinach in this case was. Producers need to be more careful with their products.

What can you do? Bag all of your produce at the store - if you place it on the grocery belt where meat was leaking a few minutes ago it can become contaminated. Store meats on the bottom of the refrigerator - if you place other foods underneath them, the juice can drip down and contaminate the food. Wash ALL produce very well before eating it.

Yes- I actually live in the area of the "outbreak" and production is back on track. I love spinach so glad it is back!

Oh yeah...wash your veggies carefully.

Back on the market for weeks now. However, still very important to clean first.
