im not sure if you read what i first submited, but hers a little more info.my daugther has been with me her entire life ,shes a very likable person and yes i im very open with her as she is with me ,we've discussed everything about drugs, sex and just life in general, shes worked to hard and gave up alot to get to this point, ithink shes to smart to wait right before she graduates to start messing up,believe me she much smarter than that .and the reason i say a spell is because of the things shes told me about the stuff that happened to her ,voo-doo dolls and so on, everybody doesnt have to have a reason to do things to you, they could be jealous of what you have ,what your doing ,that everyone likes you and knowone likes them, theres all kinds of reasons if you want to call it that ,that people do what they do, and all the time you dont have to be have done anything to them.and i think this is the case here . why wont the police dept. investagate it, she a member of A K A soroity there,

Legally, your daughter is an adult so unless she is a danger to herself or others, drive to Louisiana and go get her. I don't believe in spells, but I do believe in mental disorders. Your daughter my be at the age where schizophrenia begins to "develop." For boys, it's usually about 16 (I think) and you may want to drive to Grambling, have her evaluated and then decide. Check out the Web site, they may have a test or something to help you sort through your fears or worries. www.schizophrenia.com

Now at the risk of sounding completely and totally off my rocker, I'm going to say this:

I'm African (Spent majority of my life in West Africa), and based on a LOT of things I've actually SEEN growing up, I'm not going to completely rule out the possibility of a spell... It almost sounds to me like you might have experience with such things, or that you may your own reasons for thinking in this direction.

That said, it would be MY suggestion that you maybe do a little bit of investigation on your end... MEDICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, and personal. There could be drugs involved (please don't take offense, but you know kids), there could be a medical problem involved, or there could even be something deeply personal/psychological going on.

I wouldn't just call it a 'spell' and leave it at that. Children NEVER tell their parents everything, and there could other reasons why things are happening the way they are. If she's being referred to a mental facility, then maybe you should let her go. Just stay on top of things, that's all. Speak with ALL the doctors... Don't let them talk 'medical jargon' to you. She's your daughter, and you deserve as much information as they can give you about her condition...

Please consider all your options, BEFORE you give up all hope and start searching for a culprit or the 'caster' of the spell.

First of all she should not try to put her into a mental facility unless she is a harm to herself or to others.

Second, have you taken her to a doctor and have blood work done? They could easily diagnose her...

Third, maybe the stress of college coming to an end and now off the the real world has caused her some sort of depression.

I definately think she needs to be seen by a physician and don't expect anyone at the college to do anything about her. It is often what is convienient for others rather than what is in their best interest.

Is it possible that her going to this college has brought about a nervous breakdown? Why would someone put a spell on her? What kind of strange things is she saying? Sometimes mental illness can lay dormant for many years until a person experiences something extremely stressful to them. I know this from experience. I also think that spells are only effective if people believe in them.

Many years ago one of my best friends got right down to graduating college and completely lost it before she could pick up the diploma. Unfortunately, she has been in and out of group homes since that time. I believe it is her unwillingness to deal with reality and becoming a self sufficient adult just scared the wits out of her subconscious mind.

Get your daughter. Get her to a good psychiatrist and try to get her in a good facility that can test her to find out what is wrong.

It could also be drugs. Maybe she was given something she did not know she ingested.

There are no such things as spells. I would suggess that your daughter see a qualified psychiatrist or psychologist so that you and she will know exactly what the problem is. Going to college is very stressful, especially for high-achieving students. So much is expected of them, it is easy to become overwhelmed.

Check with counseling services at Grambling State, also.

Just go get her. You have more rights than anyone. And whether or not she is commited or hospitlized is YOUR decision. Just go get her and bring her home. Put in a request for a leave of absence from school. They will give it her.

If she has not broke the law they cannot commit her there when you wish to bring her home for treatment.

Good Luck!

How can they NOT let you bring your own daughter home? Just go and GET her!! She may need psychiatric help, or she could be messing around with drugs. Just go to Grambling and pick her up.
