No they aren't. My optician told me that wearing contact lenses dries your eyes out which can decrease the quality of your sight.

I wear contacts and glasses but mostly my contacts for sports and kids and stuff. I'd say contacts might be safer for you than contacts because there's no risk of if you get hit, your glasses cut your face or break. Contacts stay in your eyes very well most of the time...I've even swam with mine in and they didn't fall out. I don't have the kind you sleep in though so I don't know what that would feel like though I'd imagine you wouldn't even be able to feel that they're there...You'd love contacts.

If they are safe for your eyes, your doctor will prescribe them (there are few people who cannot wear contacts). There are also a variety of different contacts. Your dr. can help you choose the best one for you. Mine are moisture plus contacts. My dr. said these are good cuz I wear them every day and stare at a computer for hours during work, they wont dry out. I even sleep in them (even though I'm not actually supposed to). The reason why you shouldnt sleep in contacts is because it can scratch your cornea and damage ur eyes. There are special ones that you can sleep in too (for lazy ppl like me =)). Overall, contacts are safe, as long as you take care of cleaning them.

Contacts are safe if used correctly. I played sports growing up so they were safer then glasses in that way - I was hit in the face with a soccer ball while wearing glasses and it hurt like he**. I have naturally dry eyes so I use solution that has extra lubricant in it for my contacts. Like I said if you use them properly, yes they are safe. I see better with my contacts then I do with my glasses. I've always wron the gas permiable(?) They are supposed to let your eyes 'breathe'

I think anything that you actually place on your eye ball is not as safe as putting nothing in your eye BUT I have been a contact wearer for years and I LOVE my contacts. You can get a good kind that are so comfortable and you basically forget that they are in! Very convenient! I recommend the night and day contacts - you wear them for 30 days straight and they thow them away - no cleaning, no mess... Good Luck!!

They are safe for your eyes provided you haven't been diagnosed with any pre existing condition in your eyes before you started wearing contacts. You must keep them meticuously clean and germ free, clean and disinfect them every night, or even ideally every time you remove them. You cannot skimp on keeping them clean and disinfected, the health of your eyes is at stake.

Contacts are definitely safe for your eyes. The are because "they" told us they were. "They" being the FDA. I prefer to wear glasses though as I can't bring myself to stick something on my eye.

Some of them. Some of them were contain at least 70% water. That's safe. Don't ever try under the 50% one. It's BAD!!

They are safe depending if you remember to take them off at night. The reason is because they are moist and soft enough not to scratch your cornea.
