Here are some recipies. First, a sugar cookie is traditional. Here is the recipie:
You will need
Measuring Spoons
1/2 tsp. lemons extract
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
Cookie sheets
Oven mitts
2/3 c. softened unsalted butters
2/3 c. sugars
Measuring cups
1 egg yolks
Cooling Racks
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/3 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 eggs
Mixing Spoons
Mixing bowls
This is how you make it
1.Combine the flour, salt and baking powder. Do not sift.
2.Beat the butter until creamy, then add the sugar, vanilla and lemon extract and beat for 1 minute.
3.Beat in the egg and yolk.
4.Stir in the flour mixture only until incorporated. Stop stirring the instant the dough is uniform. 5.Form into a log, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 2 hours.
6.Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
7.Divide the dough and roll it out between two sheets of wax paper; make your cutouts. Only work with a little at a time. Keep the rest in the refrigerator to stay chilled.
8.Decorate the tops of the cookies with colored sugar, sprinkles, candies and other foods that won't melt in the oven.
9.Place the cookies on a nonstick baking sheet and cook for 10 minutes, or until they just start to turn golden around the edges. If cookies turn golden before 10 minutes have passed, lower the oven temperature.
Here is another fave. It is a buttermilk pancake:
You will need
2 tbsp. melted butter - plus more for frying and topping
2 c. buttermilk
2 eggs - lightly beaten
2 c. sifted flour
maple syrup
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 or 2 tbsp. sugar
This is how you make it
1.Preheat griddle to about 375 degrees F.
2.Sift all dry ingredients into large mixing bowl. 3.Melt butter and combine it with buttermilk and eggs.
4.Pour buttermilk mixture into dry mixture and stir just until all dry ingredients are moist.
5.Add a teaspoon or two of butter or oil to griddle and swirl to coat.
6.Pour batter on hot griddle using a 1/4-c. measuring cup, or make larger pancakes by pouring batter from a pitcher.
7.Let pancakes cook on one side until bubbles hold their shape on the uncooked side of the pancake and the edges appear slightly golden. 8.Flip pancakes and cook on other side - the second side always takes about half as much time.
9.Serve with butter and syrup.
I hope my dad's recipies help.
Hope it Helps, and Merry Christmas!

Cookies:
One of my favorites!
Italian Cookies (recipe from Barb Colberg)
1 c butter
2 c sugar
3 eggs
15 oz. ricotta cheese
2 tsp vanilla
4 c flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
Cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Beat well. Add ricotta cheese and vanilla. Add dry mixture of flour, salt, and baking soda. Mix. Drop by Tbsp 2" apart on greased cookie sheet. Cook at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Cool.
Icing: 1/4 c. softened butter, 3-4 c. (I use 4) powdered sugar, 1/2 tsp vanilla, 3-4 tsp milk. Makes 8 1/2 dozen.
Appetizers:
INGREDIENTS
* 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
* 1 (2 ounce) can chopped black olives
* 1 (4 ounce) can diced green chiles
* 1 (4 ounce) jar sliced pimento peppers, drained
* 2 green onions, minced
* 3 tablespoons hot pepper sauce
* 3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
* 10 (10 inch) flour tortillas
DIRECTIONS
1. In a medium-size mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, olives, chiles, pimentos, green onions, hot sauce and fresh cilantro. Spread the mixture onto tortillas. Roll the tortillas up and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
2. Slice the roll ups and serve.
(I just use cream cheese, diced up chiles, and flour tortillas). You can put lots of twists on this recipe. I serve mine with salsa for dipping. My friend makes these with taco seasoning instead of chiles and they are really good! Good luck!

Try these cookies. They kick butt, everyone likes them, and even if you do not like maraschino cherries you can leave them out of the recipe. Hope you try them!

These are a soft chocolate drop cookie with a cherry on top and gooey chocolate sauce on top of that. Any description of a cookie using the words chocolate and gooey cannot be that bad, right?

bacon or proscuitto wrapped water chestnuts & proscuitto wrapped asparagus are awesome.
Take 1/2 strip of bacon or proscuitto, wrap around whole water chestnut & bake at 350 degrees for 15 min. or until bacon is somewhat crispy, browned.
Wrap full strip of proscuitto around length of cleaned asparagus & grill on medium heat for about 10 min. or until proscuitto browns & asparagus somewhat tender.
