First off stop worring about it, modern society pushes the stick insect down our throats. Then take a look at your life style. Do you need to eat a balanced diet, there is enough literature out there to help you make an informed choice on this. Do you need to increase your daily exercise? this might not mean goin to the gym everyday but just walk to work/school. If you look at your life style as a whole you can probaly make little changes that you can maintain and feel a lot better about yourself, but please dont over do it...skinny women arnt normal or pretty

There's no quick-fix for weight loss; it has to be a combination of healthy diet and exercise. Plenty of fruit and veg, cut down on the starch, sugar and alcohol, and drink plenty of water. If regular visits to the gym are out of the question (can be expensive) take-up walking (instead of driving the car), or a combination of walking and swimming - but you really need to push yourself and set yourself time targets for completing a certain distance; that way you'll have the satisfaction of noting how much quicker you can complete the distance after a couple of weeks. Some people find that going to an organisation like Weight Watchers of Slimming World, really does help get them motivated and helps them to set-up healthy eating habits. (All age groups attend these meetings and they do give a lot of support). When I needed to diet, I found that writing down everything I ate and drank each day to be really helpful; I used to say that I ate hardly anything, but recording it in this way, made me more aware of just where I was going wrong! Lastly, to lose weight you must have determination and the willpower to succeed. I do wish you success.

That's really short for that much weight. I would suggest that you start by eating a cleaner diet (if you're not already doing so.) At 17 there are a lot of junk foods at school and even after school stops. Try healthier alternatives at school or pack your lunch. Try not to skip breakfast as this leads to gorging at lunch or beyond. Next , incorporate some kind of exercise into your daily lifestyle. You have to get moving at least 3-4 times a week, even if it walking or getting an aerobics video of your choice. Finally, drink as much water as you possibly can. This alone will help you to shed pounds. Good Luck!

What you have to remember is that when you starve yourself, or eat less than 1500 calories a day, your body goes into starvation mode - meaning it just stores the fat and burns the muscle. So don't do that. Just eat slower, I promise, it'll give your body time to digest it and also you'll feel full faster. Maybe you could try a little exercise if you fancy it. I used to do ten sit ups every night before bed, and every couple of days I'll increase how many I do. It gives you a lovely flat stomach and also exercise, like sex and chocolate, releases endorphins making you feel good.

No need to go into major diet mode. Follow these simple rules:
1) As recommended by the World Health Organisation, get fewer than 30% of your calories from fat. The easiest way to do this is to eat nothing that has a higher fat content than this. Modern labelling makes the calculation fairly simple to do: 1 g of fat has 9 calories(kcal), as compared to 4 for carbs & protein which is why fat is fattening.
For example 100g of my Ryvita snack has 342 kCal & contains 2.9g of fat.
So 2.9 g of fat X 9 calories = 26 calories from fat.
26 / 342 = 8% so these are within the guidelines.
2) Watch out for sugar. Lots of things, even if they are low in fat are loaded with sugar. No no coke or sweetened fizzy drinks, diluted juices or sweets. Don't over-do the unsweetened fruit juice either, a glass is fine, a carton isn't. It is much easer to drink 250 kcal than it is to burn them off again.
3) Don't eat things that aren't food. It must have some nutritional value i.e. protein, fiber, or vitamins to be food, if it is just fat, salt, sugar and/or food colouring, it isn't food.
4) Drink plenty of water or herbal tea. Avoid caffeine and alcohol. Alcohol actually slows the metabolism of fat.
These really work, you will be slimmer and healthier for it.

Its very easy to loose weight, stop feeding your face with junk and DO NOT EAT BETWEEN MEALS. Eat fruit and veg lots of protein, exercise at least 4-5 days a week and watch the weight fall off and your energy levels rise. Don't be lazy and be true to yourself, it all depends how much effort you put in.
