I have been "labeled" schizophrenic for over 40 years. I do not accept that label as it is scientifically meaningless. The label only serves to cancel the life of the person to which it is attached. A group of psychiatrists have formed a Committee to Abolish the Schizophrenic Label, CASL. They propose instead designating those who "hallucinate" and form beliefs (delusions) about those "hallucinations", as having Dopamine Dysfunction Disorder, DDD.
When my condition started over 40 years ago I heard voices, both male and female voices, not one voice but many, some so loud it forced me to my knees. The voices are unwelcome to most DDD patients I have known over the years. They seem to be somewhat controlled by neuroleptic drugs which I have taken most of the time I have been designated DDD. I have gone off meds at times (up to 12 months) and the voices did not return. I do not experience voices or other symptoms now but am taking a neuroleptic drug.
It is puzzling to me how the voices (they are in my mind not heard, like mental telepathy and are not my own mental voice I use when thinking) can come and go singly or in groups even when on meds and be a part of my own makeup. I'll advise you to make up your own mind about the voices and to not accept the "Schizophrenic Label" lightly.

Everybody hears voices when they are lonely (part of grieving), unoccupied, musing or whatever, if all three go together.
In order to be a schizo, you to have say yes to all of the following:
1) do you answer back or take the voices as gospel or authority?
2) go to see a psychiatrist (diagnosis is external)
3) believe in the trick cyclists and all their coded inventions.
Psychologists just study the mind.
If you do not answer yes to all the three above, you will have to try harder and develop your madness. Or you could act out some of the fantasies (personal to you, nobody else experiences them).
The other possibility is that an enemy has got it on for you and is causing your distress ? This is called paranoia, unless you can prove it. Paranoid mental cases are six times more likely than normal humans to kill people.
That means in the UK the nutters will collectively kill as many people in three years as Dr Shipman killed in one year.

The voices are part of your illness. Concerning your father some people do believe that when a person passes way they can communicate with those still living. Hearing your dad may have truly been something supernatural or it could have been your subconscious way of getting closure on your father's death. Either way as a rule of thumb never take instructions or advise from the voice you hear in your head and you'll be fine.

Whether or not the voices are real, the love you had and still have for your father is real, that is what is most important. Quite often some voices can come from deep within your own psyche, but not always consciously recognisable as yourself. If the voices are of familiar friends, family etc focus on how you feel about them rather than what they are saying. Most of all be gentle with yourself and forgiving.

I agree, ur father was communicating with u, & with ur mum. I believe when we die, our soul never dies & it was his spirit talking 2 u. I feel u r very sensitive & that's why u hear these voices. I'm also sensitive & I hear some voices sometimes, I don't know where they come from but all I know if they swear or ARE IN ANY WAY unloving towards me, I should reject them & I tell them to leave in the name of Christ & I mentally draw a cross on myself.
I don't fear them, quite the opposite they fear us that's why they're trying to scare/upset us.
I don't wether it's a gift, it could be!

well you must let him go now. He is with the lord now, and God loves us more than anyone, he loves you too, you are precious. Jesus christ died a horrible death for you just for you because you are so important to give. Give your life to the Lord, ask him to help you with this illness. Go to church, meet people who will not judge you and who will pray for you. Read your bible everyday and remember you are loved so much. I pray that healing will come for you, from this terrible illness, perfect love casts out all fear. read joyce meyers books you can get them on www.joycemeyers.org I had a breakdown once myself when i was young and i have been healed, you can be too. Some one once said to me the only one who can truly heal is God and it is true. He choose you to be born and you are special. Don,t listen to those voices, reapeat out loud every day God loves me everytime you hear bad things or get afraid, ask God for help, you are his child and you belong to him. He will help you it will take time but you will get better.

I live with voices that talk to me 100% f the time. Sometimes they talk and sometimes they yell. have learnt to deal with them as well as recognise their triggers. When I don't comply with them I become EXTREMELY ANXIOUS to the point of self harm.
Basically, the voices are memories and thoughts derived from your own personal experiences of the past often combined with wishes and belief systems that one has moulded.
May I say that you are in the majority with this not the minority, I wish you well. x

any left brained person will say it is from the scizophrenia, some of it most likely is, but you could very well be a medium for those who have passed. weather people believe in them or not, ther are people out there that can see, and hear spirits, research it for yourself, don't rely COMPLETELY on other's telling you about your personality.

As far as your father....we all want to believe that there is some kind of contact for a good-bye, etc. You and your mother. It's part of the grieving process.
As far as the other voices you hear, that is your schizophrenia.
