For my panic/anxiety attacks - it can even take up to a few days for the whole thing to be gone. But for the actual *smack* and feeling like you're going to die- probably about 15 minutes.
In school we learnt about neurons in the brain and the nervous system- that there are 2 different reactions you can be in: "fight and flight" or "rest and relaxation". For the "fight and flight", it takes a very short time for the reaction to get to the brain, and a long time for it to leave. Think about it- if a wild bear is chasing you--- you would want to rush into that dizzy feeling so you can run for cover! Right? But when you're having a panic attack, you get that same feeling of needing to run for cover, even if there's nothing to run from. So that's kind of scary.

Lots of times, the scary, dizzy feeling is a result of not having enough oxygen in your brain. So- I've found that the best thing to do is stop, take a deep, slow breath in, hold for a second, then let it out slowly. Do that a few times and your mind will surely clear up, somewhat.

Good luck.....

I had suffered terribly from anxiety atacks lasting from a few hours to a few days, See your doctor because in my opinion, having an anxiety attack is one of the worse experiences I have ever had. They are just terrible and if you do suffer from them I hope you get the help you need.
god bless
