Interesting.
I don't strictly follow mine, so it possible I could have adopted other beliefs and not know it. Hmmm.

As a Pagan I try to look at other religions with an open mind. I don't know about adopting beliefs - but often there is quite a bit to be learned and in the learning some of the other beliefs may become incorporated.

Being a pagan myself, I like to adopt from religions which I believe have something worth adopting. I love Islam, and I have very fond feelings towards Muslims. When praying, turning towards the east in the Islamic fashion makes me feel more powerful, and connected to the earth itself. Also, the name Allah is powerful for me, and I use it rather fondly when I am thinking of God the Father (almost in the way that a son might call his father 'daddy,'. When I am speaking to the Mother, I call Her Athena. (This has nothing to do with Islam, but I couldn't leave Her out of it!)

Pagans generally don't believe that there is "one true way" to worship, and many will see truth and wisdom in a variety of the world's religions, so it's not surprising that elements from Islam or Christianity or Judaism or Buddhism or Shinto or Kemetic Orthodoxy or Asatru or Wicca or whatever that "speaks to them" spiritually is interwoven into their personal practice.

Yes, as a Buddhist I am encouraged to do so.
From Islam, I have adopted the idea of jihad, a personal challenge that one has to overcome...
“Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it”

The only way to adopt someone else's beliefs is to rationally comprehend the reasons that they are giving for their beliefs.
If I tell you that my belief is to be a rockstar, you might not want to do it, but if I tell you that being a rockstar is good because you get to hang out with friends, create your own music, share it with your fans, and enjoy an exciting career in entertaining, then you might see those reasons as sound, and thus you might want to believe that you also want to be a rockstar.
The point is, you have to really think about it, otherwise the reasons will never sink in.

of course it is possible to adopt other peoples beliefs. The best advice I was ever given was : keep an openmind let everything in, ponder, research, keep what seems real to you in your heart and let the rest go. If you let it go it is not necessarily untrue it is just not true for you at this time of your life. I have been practicing that for 10 years now and my life has improved greatly.

I think that if a person looks for the things that we have in common with those of different faiths, we will find them. It is good to look for the common ground that we share rather than only focusing on our differences.
