It sucks not having a gf during the holidays.
What can I do to keep my mind off being alone since family lives far away?

Maybe you could hang out with one of your closest friends during this time and be with their family. I know it isnt the same as your own family but atleast you wouldn't be alone. Not having a gf for the holidays is sometimes hard but look at it this way, you wont have to worry about getting the wrong gift!! I hope this helps.

Just keep busy, and treat the holiday days just like any other day of the month. That's what I plan on doing, since my husband will not be home, and my family lives in a different state.

Maybe if you did some volunteering at a hospital or retirement home. I'm sure the people there would appreciate any help they can give and it might be a special experience for you. :) I'm sorry that you're away from your family ... I hope you have a great holiday inspite of that.

Call your family, talk to them. Then go to a singles bar and strike up a conversation with a pretty girl. (Just don't act like you're wanting a gf.) :)

stay in bed or rent a good movie to wacth and then treat the rest of the day like ant other day my wife is dead now and i can,t spend the holidays with familt to far away

Do things you enjoy doing, you never know what tomorrow will bring, hang out with friends and be yourself, dont waste time fretting over it someone special will come into your life when you least expect it.
