For me it wouldn't just depend on cost it would depend on other environmental factors also. Would the 2% emission be nuclear waste which could potentially raise the cancer and birth defects rate for my family? Would this new fuel have other impacts such as fueling cars by growing corn - this raises pesticide use and may result in forests being destroyed to turn into cropland. Obviously there is a limit to how long we can keep using fossil fuels in such wasteful quantities but each alternative has drawbacks as well. I use public transport to get to work, and I walk 8 blocks to get groceries so I don't actually have alot of say in the fuel I use, thats mostly up to the transit authority :)

It would depend on the cost of the fuel and the energy costs of producing and distributing the fuel. Sometimes the fuel is relatively emission free, but the emissions from the production of the fuel are much higher!
Hope this helps!

It's been done, already. It's called electric cars.If I lived closer to where I worked and had a garage to charge it in, I would. I'm hoping that they will come out with an improved version that can travel further distances,at higher speeds.

The real question is will electric cars get faster and look sportier? It would take a stroke of genius to make me swap my speedy little mini with anything else!
