It's not difficult, it's just time consuming and costs a bit of cash. First, you'd need to apply for permanent residency and once you got that (can take up to 3 years to get it), you have to wait 3 more years to apply for citizenship. So it's a lot of paperwork and waiting, but it's not "hard" at all.

Assuming that the non-citizen spouse is here legally, it is very simple. If the purpose of the immigration was marriage to a US citizen, then the non-citizen may apply three months before the third anniversary of the date on the Green Card. If it is a visa for any other reason, the application can be made three months before the fifth anniversary. Non-citizens serving in the military may apply for citizenship after one day's service.

It isn't hard at all. If you're married to an American, you become and American citizen, but it must be shown that you have a true marriage, and not married because you wanted to stay. I hope you didn't offer or pay your spouse any money, if you did youve committed a serious crime. You will be checked out by immigration, and the USA government until they deem you have a real, and true marriage.

Spouses of U.S. Citizens

Generally, certain lawful permanent residents married to a U.S. citizen may file for naturalization after residing continuously in the United States for three years if immediately preceding the filing of the application:

the applicant has been married to and living in a valid marital union with the same U.S. citizen spouse for all three years;
the U.S. spouse has been a citizen for all three years and meets all physical presence and residence requirements; and
the applicant meets all other naturalization requirements.
