Well a person can be given two opposite names like a terrorist or a freedom fighter for doing same job... Just like nelson mandella he got 25 years being called a terrorist and after 25 years he was given noble prize for peace so what can you say about the scenario.. Same person same job but two different names.... so thats the matter now a days with muslims .. CNN and BBC would definitely call them extremists or terrorists but what about AL-Jazeera or any other muslim channel.. You wont believe Al-Jazeera but not everyone is like you...
So you call muslims extremist .. i call them the people of ALLAH
you call them terrorist i call them freedom fighter...
One person one job two names....

Every religion has fanatics, you just aren't hearing about the non-glorified ones. Look, the majority of prisoners in America are Christian, does that mean Christianity makes people become criminals?

Christians have had a long history of violence; the Spanish inquisition, the Crusades, the holocaust, and abortion clinic bombings. The Abu Ghraib torturers even told the prisoners to pray out loud for Jesus to save them or else they'd be beaten more.

It's unfair to judge a religion by what a minority do. It is fair, however, to judge by what their holy scriptures say. Islam says murder is a sin, as does Christianity. They have a lot more in common than you think.

Oh...there are many extremists in both Christianity & Islam. In all religions. We as Americans have it shoved down our throats each and every day that all Muslims are 'terrorists' by the media and our government. This is quite similar to what Hitler shoved down the throats of Germans re. Jews and those not of an Aryan background. Learn for yourself before following the war hype in this country. There are Christian fanaticists and extremists throughout the world; we are just not currently in a war with a Christian country. Please don't let false propaganda sway you. There are also many wonderful Christians and wonderful Muslims. It is extremist to think that another group is so much less moral than one's own when one knows so very little about them. Good luck.

I think the words 'fanatics' and 'extremist' are not proper to be used for religion.
A religion is set of instructions, rules, regulations, guide lines to handle daily activities, a way how to deal and treat others etc.
In fact religion teaches morality, decency, dignity and how to follow and live a life which is near to nature.
Where as SATAN wants that human should be mislead by hook and crook.
Now a days it has become a fashion to oppose religion and nature. Every one thinks that he/she is the most wise person on the earth and he/she is PLATOON.
At this point the people who want to live natural way of life or want to follow the path set by religion are named / termed as
'extremist','fundamentalist' and 'fanatic' etc. Which is NOT TRUE.
For example religion says,'don't drink alcohol'. The person who want to follow that and advises the people for that is amongst above and similarly there are many example for that.

Part of living in a country controled by religous teachers is they try and make everyone think alike. Also you have peer preasure. What a volitile combo. So the population grabs an idea and runs with it. No one is asking the questions that might unignite a situation. Put a damper on things. Make you see reason. Then they have to try and justify their actions. Mainly by ignoring what they did and insisting "Islam is a peaceful religion":.

I don't believe that there are any more extremists in Islam than in Christianity, but I do not have any statistics on the issue.

You are making an assumption that is not based on facts.

Are there really more, or are they just more loudly heard? (honest question) There are a lot of Christian extremists, but I wonder if they are not paid as much attention.
