More time is needed for technology to get cheaper for average citizens. I am one too.

Vista delayed (for consumers) until early 2007
Posted Mar 21st 2006 6:45PM by Evan Blass
Filed under: Desktops, Laptops
Microsoft's troubled transition from XP to Vista has become something of a comedy of errors, with leaks, confusing hardware requirements, disappearing features, and habitual delays having plagued the next-gen OS since it was just a wee Longhorn. And now it seems that once again our hopes of running Vista before the end of the year have been dashed, with Microsoft issuing a press release late Tuesday revealing that although a business rollout will begin in November, consumers will have to wait until January 2007 to upgrade. While we're certainly frustrated that we won't be able to get our Vista-on for the holidays, we're gonna try to put a positive spin on the situation and appreciate the fact that we now have a little longer to decide which of the eight six flavors of the new operating system we'll be dual-booting on our Macs.

Like all of their other software--they are always working on it!
Last announcement said January 2007.
Most Computers and Laptops sold now include FREE upgrade to Vista! Just remember, Vista will come out in at least 5 versions! The FREE one is equivalent to a basic "Home" version. If you want the "Pro" or "Server 2007" versions, plan on paying lots of dollars!
The 1st and 2nd betas were fun to play with--very colorful!
Don't forget to get Office 2007 Pro to go with it! I've enjoyed using it for the last couple of months!

I don't know about when it's gonna be released, but I know that in one of my classes a group did a project on Vista and downloaded the beta and said that they were VERY displeased with Vista, they said it's not worth the time it takes to install.

Vista has already been released to businesses and if you have an MSDN account you can download it; it will be released for retail on January 30th. Like all software, there will be some kinks that were not worked out; that's why they create patches(service packs)
