Well, your answer is a bit complicated. If a Muslim dies as a martyr, then they go straight to heaven, and skip over the possibly fearful Judgement Day.
HOWEVER, we have to make it clear who is a martyr and who is not. The first martyr in Islam was a woman named Sumaiyah who converted to Islam, and was killed by her pagan slaveowner who tried to torture her into going back to idolatry.
People who murder innocent women and children are not martyrs. In Islam, the first person to be judged by God on Judgement Day will be a man who died in battle supposedly as a martyr. God will send him to hell, because the man took fought and died only to show off how brave he was and so he could be admired by men, instead of having any intention of serving God. It's up to God to decide whose deeds to accept and not.

Dont be missguided by the american media monoploy, OK... Not all those who are islamic are evil or bad. The saying goes 1 bad apple ruins the bunch, well the same is true in this thinking. Not everyone who practices islam is out to hurt people.
The radical jihadists believe that if you are marytred for islam you will recieve 78 virgins in paradise.
Again though, not everyone is a radical jihadist. While I was in combat in Afghanistan I met some of the nicest, most down to earth people you could ever meet. They would invite you into their home, give you their last piece of bread and demand you sleep on there mat as a tokken of hospitality, while they slept in the dirt. There are people in the US who will pass a homeless person on the street, while most of these people are obligated to take in to their homes those less fortunate, and they do. In all the arabic countries I visited, I can honestly say I didnt see any homeless beggers, or vagrants.
Open your mind and dont be persuaded by the US media.

If they are literate, they believe that they will enter a state of elightenment and be judged as their reward.
If they are illeterate, they believe that they will enter a heaven filled with doe-eyed female slaves that will cater to their every whim and feed them raisins.
This is all because of certain words that sound the same but have totally different meanings. If they were allowed to read them, they would see something different, but since they can only read under penalty of death, they have no clue.

Martyrdom translates to immediate entrance into Paradise where they are attended by 70 virgins. I have always wondered what do suicide bomber women get in Paradise....freedom from Muslim males?
