Well first of the majority of the 1.5 billion Muslims that there are usually die in the same way everybody else does, you know accidents, illnesses not by blowing themselves up or in a battle. I've never even seen a real gun never mind held one. What happens to those who do as with anyone else only God knows its for him to make a judgment and him alone. Muslims do not believe that we all have a one way ticket to heaven. And if you are trying to provoke people into saying the 72 virgin rubbish well it just shows your mentality doesn't it.

Suiciding in ISLAM is not permitted.. whoever commit this sin cannot enter the heavens until they get the punishment for the commited sin....
Now the matter of getting a shot in battlefield... In short the person is called 'SHAHEED' and they will go to heaven getting the top rewards... The purpose of fight is right or wrong its only GOD who knows... but according to given instructions by Allah(God) A muslim should fight to save the religion of ISLAM not fearing for death...

it all depends...its is a muslim's belief that if he goes to war for Islam
it is called 'Syahid'..die in the name of Allah, defending what is true in Islam, defending what he/she believes...and such conditions does not apply only during wars, but in many scenarios in life..died while serving the country etc...
