The rates of insurance are determined partially by the safety of the vehicle and how much the average repair bill is to fix a car like yours.

Also, some of the rate is determined by your credit AND where you live.

If you're just looking for a cheap insurance company to make you legal then definately go to whatever cut-rate bargain bin place you can find. But if you would like your coverage tailored to your needs then go with a quality company like State Farm.

(cheap doesn't mean better - especially in regards to customer service, claim service, future rate changes, company stability, etc)

The cut-rate company may be cheap right now, but will they be next year or the year after that?

Most major companies insure imports. Pricing among auto insurance companies varies greatly. Although cheap car insurance can be acquired, premiums are generally based upon certain set factors and characteristics. Some of these include:

* Age, gender and marital status
* Auto type
* Where you drive, how you drive, use of your vehicle
* Driving record
* Household driving information
* Coverage limits
* Credit history

More expensive insurance often accompanies more expensive vehicles, or those which cost more to repair. So before you buy a new car, be sure to consult with your car insurance company to find out if you can get cheap car insurance.

The one that best meets your needs at a price you can pay. How to find out? Go to an independent agent and have him look for you. He isn't tied to any one company.

You should check out several companies. A lot of the cost is depending on what you want to have you out yourself. The deductable does make a big difference. Also, if you want to have the uninsured/underinsured etc. etc.
