Absolutly! I know a lot of people who train their small-breed dogs to use the litter box.
You'll want to reward him when he uses the box of course. To get started you may want to put a piece of his poo in the box so he knows that is where to go.

Short answer = yes
Long answer:
Instead of taking the puppy outside or onto paper, take it (the second it wakes up) to the litter box, set it inside then squat or sit next to it and talk to it until it does it's job, then praise it when it finishes and immediately take it out, then watch the puppy and the MINUTE it even thinks about potty, repeat above.
Just make sure to keep the box clean or the dog will NOT use it. They want to potty as far away from where they eat, play and sleep as possible. They don't like the smell anymore than we do.

Yes, yes yes! My min pin in litter trained. You basically follow the same guidelines as any other potty training. They even make doggie litter. The cat litter, Yesterday's News is the same only much cheaper. My dog likes the dog litter box better than the cat ones. they are not as deep and wider. Anyhoo, encourage him/her to eliminate in the litter box. Every 2 hours or w/ in 15 min of eating / drinking . . . take him/her to the litter box and tell them to "go potty". When they do, praise them a lot. If they potty elsewhere, pick them up and put them in box and tell them potty in the box. It does take awhile to train, but it is really nice to not have to worry about poop in the back yard. It is also nice for my dog bc she is so small and WI winters are pretty cold. Good luck!

yes, I have a 3 month old puppy who goes in my cats litter box and I didn't even train him to, he just started doing it!!!! It was really funny the first time I saw him do it.I would however use sand or dirt for the box so incorporate this with going outside also. Good Luck!!!

Yes, and some people do that, when they have little to no yard. I'd suggest having the litter box outside still, or else you are teaching the dog that it's ok to go potty indoors.

I litter box trained my 7 month old puppy. It's so nice not to have to go out in frigid temperatures.

Yes - My mother in law trained har small dog to go on puppy training pads and she has been doing it ever since. Very convenient since she works long hours, Pepper can go whenever she needs to and doesn't have wait to be let out. Plus it saves you the trouble of cleaning up your yard or taking a doody bag on walks with you.
