someone else has opened that doc. earlier in read/write mode.. someone else cl'd be you too. check fr the session. if its someone other his login id will be displayed on meassage box. In that case open the doc. in notify mode whenever the otehr person release the doc. it will be assigned to you for update..

are you telling me that it is blocked!! My word I don't believe that you could Excel at anything if you were blocked??

Maybe someone else in your the workbook or document that you are trying to get into....if nothing else re-boot and if that don't work call a computer tech.
