You only have to sniff and she jumps. Sometimes when i am walking towards her to get to the kitchen she has a look of fear like i have a gun in my hand and runs like lightning out the room. She petrified of everything and it annoys me now becasue as soon a s you call her to sit with you she jumps up to your lap straight away. She loves attention but has a split personality, you can be stroking her one minute and a second later she screams at you to get away and runs off. She's silly, i wish she would just chill out and stop being scared of things that arent scary, like me breathing or the floorboards.

Most cats have a built in protection plan. That is to say they appear to be scared of everything, but the reality is they are on security alert most of the time. Thats how they stay safe in the wild, they are always looking, and always on the alert for there own protection.

Anyways I had a cat that was like that and honestly she never grew out of it. Always running from noises and such. Eventually she tamed down but only for me so I wish you good luck

Maybe she's schizophrenic. Take her to a pet psychologist. Or take her for a looonnggg ride in the country and drop her off. See if she comes back.
