No ibuprofen is not a narcotic. It's and NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug). The other more widely known name for it is Motrin, which you can buy over the counter, but in a lower dosage. The 800mg-dose is prescription strength because of the side effects that it can have on your body, like abdominal bleeding for one. Ibuprofen should always be taken with food or milk. And you should never use for a long period of time.

Well, it won't make you high, but I did have a friend who swore it made her sleepy. I've never had this side effect from taking this med, though.

If you suffer from migraines, you should see your doctor and let him give you a prescription for something especially geared towards treating and relieving migraine pain. This would be better than taking your friends meds and then ending up in the hospital with a stomach ulcer. But if you do take them, use them sparingly until you see your doctor. And remember to take with food. If no food is available, drink some milk. Never take on an empty stomach. You'd be setting yourself up for problems.

No, it is not a narcotic. It merely sounds like a larger dose of over the counter Ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is similar to Tylenol, but works differently, so it is more risky for ulcers if you have any, compared to tylenol which is bad for people with liver problems.

So no, you can't use it to get high. It's just a pain reliever. But good for menstral cramps.

Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drug similar to aspirin. It will not make you wooze or high feeling. It is about as benign and safe as acetaminophen (Tylenol) although acetaminophen does not have anti inflammatory properties in the dosages utilized. A narcotic is a misnomer as it implies 'narco' or sleep and narcotics and in fact opioids or derivatives of opium which are prescribed for pain. The dose of ibuprofen for someone 120 pounds or greater is 800 mg 3 times daily and it is perfectly OK to take acetaminophen with ibuprofen. The dose of acetaminophen for someone 120 pounds or greater is 325 mg 3 tablets 4 times daily or 500 mg 2 tablets 4 times daily or 650 mg 2 tablets 3 times daily. I hope that this is helpful.

No, you won't. This is just a higher dose of normal Ibuprofen. You should be fine.
