I had my clutch replaced a few months ago. On my 1996 Toyota Paseo I was at a stop light and attempted to leave the light in first. Howeve when I released the clutch pedal the whole car would shutter violently (Like the engine was about to die)
.Later as I was driving home I heard a grinding noise but the shuttering had stopped. To me it sounds like it has something to do with the clutch any other opinions? Thanks in advance for any possible answers.

It could very well be the clutch. Look under the car for any oil leak in the area of the clutch,or around the bell housing. If the clutch is getting wet from an oil eak (whether it be trans oil,or motor oil). It will make the clutch disc stick to the pressure plate and/or flywheel, causing the clutch to chatter when released. If that is the case, they should have caught it when they did the clutch job.

I had this same problem in my 2000 mustang i got my clutch replaced but not the flywheel and when i took off it acted as i didn't know how to take off, it even shook my car so bad that one of my exausts broke off the hanger and started to rattle and hit my bumper, so i would make sure who ever replaced your clutch if they replaced your flywheel because they both wear the same and if you put a new clutch without a flywheel they will not match causing a shake, and the griding noise might be your throw out bearing, what did they replace, hopefully not just the clutch disks because you will be replacing all the stuff plus the clutch disk very soon.

Sounds more to me like you missed first and went straight to third, or another, higher gear.
