Hey Mrs M.,

You can contact the Vital Records department for Cleburne County and ask them what the procedure is to order a death certificate.

You can also go to the public library local to the death, either in person or on the phone, and ask the Librarian if they could help you. It has been my experience that they can usually fit you in. Talk nice...

I checked the Alabama State Records and there is nothing listed with them for James or Jim Hester. I also checked several local papers, but there was nothing. Try doing a generation search. Find someone related that may have some more information
I find it odd that nothing came up for Hester. There was a marriage announcement in the Cleburne paper but the first names didn't match just the last.

His father was John W Hester born 1870 in Alabama. He was a farmer by profession. He was married to Susan (born May 1860) about 1892 and at the time of the 1900 census they had two children. The oldest was Wesley J (born October 1890) and James F Born April 1894 (These are dates in the actual 1900 census. They may be right or they may be wrong. The census is not always 100% accurate) Both John and Susan were born in Alabama and their parents were also born in Alabama)

By the 1910 census, John W Hester was remarried to a lady named Emma. They were married for 3 years at the time of the census and had a two year old daughter named Drucilla. Also living with them was Emmas mother Becky J Tripplet; so it is likely that Tripplet was Emmas maiden name.

Susans parents were James Wyeth Langley and Eatha Malinda Shelnut according to a tree on Ancestry.

According to your Grandfathers World War I draft card, he was born April 12, 1894. His physical description is Short and Stout with Blue eyes and Blonde hair. He was born in Cleburne County, Alabama but was living in Haralson County, Georgia. He was self-employed in Tallapoosa, Georgia and had a wife and two children. A search of the 1920 census revealed that his wifes name was Ruth (Rhoda R in the 1930 census) and that in 1920 he had 4 children named Maybelle, Harvey, Joe L, and Beatrice. His wife was born about 1900 in Mississippi. In 1920 he worked as a laborer in a planing mill. In 1930 they were in Webster County, Mississippi with more kids with the names Floyce, Myrtie, Roscoe, and Mattie.

This is pretty much all I could find. I hope this helps.
