And if you do, why do you? If not, why not?

sometimes its harder to do then it is to ask but yes as a Christian I try to forgive people. To hold on to resentments causes a person to get sick and bitter. I dont like feeling that way plus I know that I am forgiven by God for my sins and I should try to do the same to fellow mankind. Could you imagine a world where nobody forgave each other? That is not a world that I would want to live in.

First, I'm a Christian.
Yes, I do my very best to practice forgiveness to those that wrong me. Sometimes it is a very hard thing to do and when I can't quite get there by myself, I ask for God's help.
I am dealing with one right now that I haven't quite gotten there yet but I know with the Lord's help, I will.
Why do I do this?
The answer has already been given, but I will give it again.
When Jesus was asked how to pray, He said what we have accepted as the Lord's Prayer, part of which is this...
"Forgive those who have trespassed against you".
I've often wondered what happens to Christians or non-Christians when they don't forgive. This question was answered at a Revival at my Church last year.
When we don't forgive, the Lord will not forgive us and we desperately need His forgiveness because we are human and at least most of us probably mess up in one way or another on a daily basis.
Besides what I have stated, I believe when you have been "genuinely" saved you want to live to please the Lord and do as He says we should do.
Practicing forgiveness is just one aspect.
Jesus was asked what is the greatest commandment and He said to love the Lord with all your heart and the second was like it, to love your neighbor as yourself.
If we practice love, how can we hate or withhold forgiveness?

I think everyone has at one time or another, Despite their religion. If they never forgave anyone then they must be very grumpy. You can just be walking and someone accidentily bump into you, no harm done or anything, and I'm sure the person said sorry and you probably would say its ok. Or something like that. Alot of people forgive others and not even know it. Just because you may be an atheist doesn't mean you cannot forgive people. I don't think religion plays a big role in forgive-ness I think it just comes naturally.

Happy Holidays :)

I see no need for forgiveness at all. All people act exactly as they must, they can do no different. I see no reason to believe in free will, so why should I forgive or begrudge a fellow flesh-based robot?

When you fill your heart with forgiveness or unforgiveness, you have, in essence, let the person put you into an emotional state and you've allowed him/her to have control over you. It does not matter if it is a 'positive' or 'negative' emotion, they have some amount of control.

Emotions are good things but they are far better acknowledged for what they are, experienced in their full, then gently set aside so reason can prevail in all things.

Matthew 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

Yes I do. I am a born again Christian. Praise the Lord!!
Because it is the will of God, and many calim to be born again and think they shall see the kingdom of heaven, but do not do God's will. Those people will not see the kingdom of God according to the word of God.

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

I practice the forgiveness of others, if that's what you mean. It's very relieving. To remove anger and hatred towards others will make you feel good about yourself.

This is pretty much the same thing that most decent religious practicioners do. I just do it without the use of a god figure.

Yes, me as a christian i do because it says in the bible "if you won't forgive the sins of others, then why should God forgive your sins?". Anyways not being friends with someone ever again just because of an argument is just plain stupid.

I try to because through the death of His Son, Jesus Christ, God has forgiven all of my sins (even the ones I have yet to commit). Also because the Bible teaches that we should live in a Christ like manner....that includes forgiving those who may sin against us among other things.
