Today, in Kung Fu, the bowing salute is given with only one hand in prayer position. It is in remembrance of the Buddhist monk who cut off his right arm, to show his master/teacher, Bodie Dharma that he indeed understood the teachings of the Dao.
Master Dharma took this monk to be his personal trainee, as he was the only one who truly understood.
For one who seeks only sound in one hand clapping, they are indeed deafened by reality.
For the enlightened one, there are two hands, . . . .but only one to be seen by the eyes. . . . there is sound. . . ., but none to be heard by the ears.

It sounds remarkably similar to the sound of a tree falling in the woods with nobody around to hear it.
