PDF files are ranged in size just like any other files. It depends on how much stuff is on the PDF file (words, pictures, etc..).

The size of a PDF file depends on how many pages and is there a picture inside or not. For 500 pages plain text format will take like 2-3 MB size.

I think the question was what is the absolute average (as an average :)) ) for the pdf files? Like ... all the PDFs in the world added together and divided by their number. I also need this for a paper and ... the answers didn't quite help

that depends on what you create a PDF of.
I have a 4 page pdf with graphics that is 3.1 MB
I also have a 1 page pdf with graphics that is only 1.7 MB.

There isn't an average size. You can have one that is only a couple k or one that is a Gigabyte. It depends what's in it like how many pages, whether its raster or vector imaging, the resolution, the complexity of the graphics, etc.

Depends on the content
if lots of text only, then it will be certain kilobytes(depending on number of pages)
if it has pictures (especially of high resolution and large size), then it will be of greater size.
