Maybe, maybe not. I think God put up with me doing it for awhile, but eventually he let me know I had to stop. Did he count it as a sin while he was putting up with it? I don't really know.
Despite the knee-jerk reaction that it's the "devil's music", the reality is the enemy does use it to attack us. I didn't come to that conclusion from reading or hearing others say it, but because I suffered the attacks personally.

This is something I would call between you and God. You don't want to be too legalistic with your religion and ban all secular music, if you enjoy it, however, if you hear the lyrics really well and see that a song is becoming offensive, then i would turn it. I would try to listen to a mix of Christian and secular music. Just watch the secular music, it does not praise God and keeps your mind off of him, but as I said you can become too legalistic and then you will find yourself always listening to the secular and never listenign to the uplifting Christian music. I don't consider it a sin. I think if the lyrics are really bad, they will keep my eyes, and mind off of God.

Why?
St. Paul was prepared to tolerate the faithful eating food sacrificed to idols. If something that far out is tolerable, something none of us would even think of doing today, how can having the radio on a secular station be a problem?
It is an error called Donatism that insists that Christians must not interact with the world. We are called to go out into the world, not to hide from it.

I say no, but other Christians might disagree with me. I mean, I'm listening to Evanescence right now, and I don't think it's a sin.
I think it depends on the Christian. Some can only listen to Christian music. Others can listen to anything.

NO. Music, by itself is neither good nor bad. It is important, however, to understand that if you surround yourself with positive things, people, and music, there is a better chance you will conduct your life in a positive love filled manner. On the other hand, if you surround yourself with negative and hate filled things, people, and music, there is a good chance you will conduct yourself in a negative or hate filled way and that IS a sin.

May I suggest that ANY religion that tries to tell you what kind of music to listen to is highly questionable. If your religion does then that sounds a little bit like Taliban'ish to me.
The only exception would be music that promotes violence.

the way I look at is, If you can invited the lord anywhere in anything you want to do, its ok. if you can't then maybe you shouldn't do it. The lord wants to be in your life completely, even when your having fun!!!! So go have fun and bring him along, even if its just listening to music.

Yes. You will definitly go to hell for that. If you make any physical movements that resemble dancing, your punishment will be even worse.
Sorry, it's not what I want, it's what God wants.
