Did you sustain an impact injury? Or an overuse one? My high school nurse used to say, if the tendon, or area above the wrist (turn your hand palm side down, and look at the top area of your wrist, just below the hand. Is there a raised bump? It is called, and I will not try to mangle this word: a ganglalang (spell check says ganglion). Drat; can't find my medical dictionary :( I am not a nurse or anything. Can you go to the health center at your college, if you are on campus? I know you hold a clarinet in the down position, unless you are in marching band, where you may be twisting or turning it while marching. Could this be the case? Even carrying it in its case may be awkward, or if you are carrying things in your left hand across campus, such as a project or other things? Were you pounding on something? Anyhow, go to your health clinic, or a local doctor. Ice and/or a sprint may be all you need, but, if you strained or sprained it, it should be probably x-rayed to rule out any fractures. P.S. You don't want it to worsen as to require physical therapy. Good luck! :)

Go to the drug store and get a wrist split. The pharmacist will tell you which one. Wear it and if that helps, you have carpel tunnel syndrome. Just wear the wrist split when you type and do other things that makes it hurt. Take Ibuprofen to reduce pain and swelling. That should really help.

It sounds like it could be carpel tunnel. I had this problem for
years as a waitress. Go to your local pharmacy and get a wrist
brace. Also, get a bottle of B50 complex. A nurse from our
local hospital told me about this. It works great!

The answers are already here.
Go to a doctor and ask him/her to see if you have carpel tunnel or stress syndrome.
Pulled tendons even.
Just read the answer already here and most of them are correct.
Best of luck
Oh use a support wrist brace or arm brace may just help.

could be early signs of repetitve stress syndrome, aka carpal tunnel. i would take breaks while working or playing and flex it every 15 min. if it persists, see a Dr for an MRI
