The brain 'floats' in a substance in the head, protected by the brain membrane.
What you have done is bounce the brain against the side of the skull......therefore you feel pain. Brains themselves do not suffer pain, but the membrane most certainly does!

Maybe the pain migrated; the sore spot goes eventually numb or desensitized from the constant ache, but you start to feel it nearby (I think). It's pretty common.

Could it be unrelated and just a headache? How hard did you hit your head, did you lose consciousness or get dizzy or nauseous? (I'm trying to rule out anything like a mild concussion)
