I never have any left to keep warm. Besides, after about 30 minutes, heated coffee starts to taste terrible

I turn my coffee off after it's done brewing, put it into a hot pot (carafe) so that it doesn't get 'burnt' tasting. If I do leave it on the burner (for parties or company) I take the grounds out and dump them. Leaving the grounds in the pot can make the coffee tasting bitter.

How to Store...

It is important to properly store your coffee, before you brew it, and once it's been prepared.

To ensure the freshness of your coffee, exposure to oxygen, moisture, and outside odours must be minimized.

*

Freshness is optimized by purchasing quantities that can be consumed within 7 to 10 days after opening.

*

After opening your package, be sure to transfer coffee to the proper storage container. To ensure coffee maintains its full flavour characteristics, use an airtight, glass container, stored in a cool dry environment. Minimize empty "head space" in the container.

*

Whole beans will begin to lose freshness 21 days after roasting. As with ground coffee, freshness of whole bean coffee can be substantially extended if vacuum packed, to avoid exposure to oxygen.

After Brewing...

A good rule to follow is not to leave coffee on a warming element longer than 20 minutes. Prolonged exposure to heat will cause coffee to burn.

To store brewed coffee for longer periods of time, transfer it to a thermal container, which has been preheated with hot water. This will maintain coffee's flavour and temperature.

No.
It stays hot. Period. It's coffee, that's what it does...
Seriously. Besides, studies show that leaving it on after brewing are 50% more likely to yield carsinogenic effects.

depends on 'HOW' you're brewing it. If you use one of those metal stove top cafeteras, no you just turn it off & pour. If you use a perculator, there is a heating element in the base underneath where the glass jug sits, this stays on keeping it warm. A plunger you just pour when ready too. I wasn't 100% sure of the question so hope this does it for ya ;)

the plate (warmer) cycles on and off to keep a set temp

THE BEST COFFEE is made with an insulated carafe ( it prevents the changing temperatures ( that cause bitterness ) and slowly loses it's heat ( the coffee stays nice and hot for 1-2hours in a good one - this is as about as long as you can keep coffee without the taste changing )

Different coffee makers keep it hot different ways. Some have a warmer, some warmers turn off automatically, others just have a very well insulated carafe to retain heat. Best to read your owners manual to be sure what yours does.....

It depends on your coffee maker...some stay on and some turn off after awhile. I wouldn't leave it on too long, though because it starts to get a burnt taste to it.

You leave it turned on - it has a thermostat that will keep the coffee at the right temperature.
